How do people afford anacondas?

"Now what?" is the question I always keep in my mind in all games I play... and I do so specifically to remind myself that making the end level, or the end item as it were, my end goal just means I won't get full enjoyment of the game.

It's amazing that in this game, no matter what pimped up omgmobile you own, that Vulture, or ASP still trumps your 'time in' stats :D

The more ominous question is the one that comes after "How to get an anaconda?"

The question: "I got an Anaconda, now what?"
.

yep this is my problem as well. I commend players who can just play for the joy of playing but me personally I love to have a goal........ my aim is to own 1 of every ship in the game and i go out of my way to slow this down by having self made rules of never selling a ship I do not own another variant of, and never stripping a ship down to fund another.

Actually engineers will help as another goal i can make is getting friendly with everyone one in the game.

Am i missing something guys? Right now im just about 35 hours of gameplay in Elite. Bought myself a Type 6 and a Viper with decent upgrades. My best way to earn credits is usually going to Ngaliba 4 low conflict zone. Im joining Confederation of Ngaliba and when we have upper hand, it is easy to grind money there. My top score is 1.5 million credits for one and a half hour there. After that i bought a Type 6 and found a trade route in Sopontet to some other place. That one makes 200k profit per 10 minutes with 104 cargo hold. But still, when you check out the good ships they worth +15 million at the cheapest. How people make money? At this rate i must grind same trade route for the next 30 hours of gameplay. Just to buy a Type 7 maybe? I dont know much about the powerplay. Does the missions in that gives good moeny or something?

Thank you.

For one thing, you're saying you make 200k profit per 10 minutes with 104 tons. If that's loop or the trade route then you're only making about 2k per ton per loop. You could easily increase that to 4k/ton/loop. Try looking at https://eddb.io/trade/loops - make the max hop distance the maximum jump distance of your ship so it's a one hop route and try and find a route with a small distance between the star and the station. One hop and a short distance to the station will save a lot of time and maximise your hourly profit.

When you have around 25 million get a type 7 (something like http://coriolis.io/outfit/type_7_tr...9191919----050504040348012h.Iw18aQ==.Aw18aQ== ) and you'll double your profits/hour since it'll carry over 200t. Then save up for a python (which can take more cargo and can actually defend itself, unlike the t7). If you still want to trade after all that then it's best to move up to a type 9. Then you should be able to make about 6-7 million an hour on the right trade route.

That's assuming you want to trade. It gets really boring after a while. It'd be much more fun to get a well specced vulture for about 20 million and hang out at a hazres. Should be able to make about 3-4 million an hour doing that.

Things i did from ship to ship.

1. Sidewinder (learning bounty hunting)

I set a goal for the anaconda. i would trade my ship for the next as i had the money + 1 rebuy.

2. Viper (Bounty hunting)
4. Cobra (Bounty hunting / Test Trading)
5. T6 (No shield)(Learning trading)
6. Asp (Repair expensive so shielded)(Bounty hunting / Trading)
7. T7 (No Shield)(Trading)
8. Python (Trade / Bounty hunting)
9. T9 (Repair/risk expensive so shielded)(trading)
10. Anaconda (Few month after the game was out i was here) - (Trade / Bounty hunting / Explore / Mining) - (Rebuying ships i liked)

As new ships came out i bought them. + Started leveling empire & federation rank.

11. Clipper (To store prismatic A7 shield)
12. Volture (Bounty hunting)
13. FDL (Bounty hunting)

Cutter / Corvette update came out. missed some ranks so i started ranking again.
I guess i like trading & mining alot, i am weird that way.

So i ended up with most small, medium landing pad ships.

Main ships for bounty hunting: Corvette, FDL
Main ship for trading & mining: Cutter
Main ships for exploration: Asp, Anaconda
Main ship for missions: Python

Some ppl like to watch some TV when the time permits it, i like to take a trip and trade/mine abid.

I have the anaconda but spend more flight time in my python
but my FAS and FDL are sitting in mothballs while the corvette rules supreme

Worked my way up to a Hauler (trade missions gave the best return), then a type 6, 7 then heavy... all with maxed out cargo. I eventually began using the 'trade helper' at this site;

http://roguey.co.uk/elite-dangerous/

look at 'best' and you can see where you can make the best money. Happens to be imperial slave (was a bit unsure about this at first as I detest any form of slavery in the real world, but turns out imperial slavery is more a career move than a predicament... conscience cleared!) which can give a profit of up to 4000 per ton, so with a cargo hold in excess of 500 tons on the heavy that represents big steps to the big snake. I'm still working at fitting mine out, as it is the insurance alone is 14mil. Had I know about the above link sooner I could have got where I am sooner... hey ho.

35 hours is tiny! Just keep on going, it takes quite a while. So try to enjoy the journey, you'll get there when you get there.

If you don't want to use exploits like Robigo mode shifting and trading is too dull, try spending some time on the edges of the bubble. The populations of those outposts are desperate to shift their data, drugs and wealth. With a few introduction missions to get you friendly you should soon be picking up missions from 100k to 2.5 million. Quite often there is zero traffic and no news items at all in these systems which suggest players have never impacted the economies I'm visiting.

Most of the missions will be legal too so you don't have to worry about the scans and pirates that come with stacking shadow runs. I've found equipping an advanced scanner and detailed surface scanner to my 90 ish ton capacity T6 also helps with the cash flow.

Dont get me wrong, I could afford an upgrade from the T6 quite a while ago but I find flying an unarmed Trading ship in lawless anarchy systems to be more entertaining. Once I get a Conda what do I have to worry about?

Trading scales the best, so do that.

Find one trading CG and hammer it to top 5% if you can. Credits will flow. Then take a massive break from the game to recover, then repeat.

In the time of the Cutter that is not really achievable in a ship the size of a T-7 or smalller.

You could do it like me: just enjoying the game and eventually get there (took me more like 700 hours...)
