Newcomer / Intro How do Remote Release Turrets work?

So I have searched all the usual places, but right now I have no information on how Remote Release Flak and Flechette launchers work as turrets.

Can they be used in automatic mode and automatically detonate at the right moment or do I still have to detonate at the right time?

Best,
Prussian

I'm pretty sure any tech broker turrets need to be used in multi-crew to function as turrets, otherwise they are limited to forward fire.

They need the trigger to be held down until you want them to go bang so they will have to be multi-crew or Forward Fire as @Morbad said.

Oh, that's . Thanks for nothing FDEV. I thought I finally found a weapon for my Cutter, projecting FLAK all over the place like a ing battlestar.

But not, I need a human crewmember, which nobody ever has because its mostly boring and people simply want to fly their own ships.

Now a good game designer could tie the advantage of the remote release turret (with auto-detonate) to having an NPC crewmember on board. But no, FDEV wouldn't care to think for a second what player could want and what they would dream of seeing FLAK turrets.

Also, nobody ever would come with the unreal tournamenty notion of having to detonate them manually. when they would clearly detonate on proximity or distance travelled (programmed to target distance).

FDEV truly are the master of teasing you and then dropping you like a hot potato.

Without multi-crew the turret versions are fixed with and using them have the the worst DPS. I could be wrong never using them. Flechettes are used against standard NPCs and live players (and most live players will laugh at you using them). Flak is designed to take our Thargoid swams while taking on the big guys. I've used flak and they work. Taking out Thargoids is best done with friends. Going Solo mode takes a lot more experience. Maybe the Devs designed this way. You do the math.
