How Do You an your Multi-Crew Member Both Get your Names on First Discoveries?

I was under the impression that if someone was in multi-crew with you they'd also get their name on a first discovery? What about first mapped, cause they can actually use the DSS? How is this done?

Your crew gets absolutely nothing for helping you explore, neither via the FSS nor the DSS. No tags, no credits. Not sure if this is a bug or intended, but it has been reported as a bug since the first beta, and still the same months later.

It is not, and never was a bug. Thankfully good prevails here and it was not intended for it to be the case that a Cmdr could potentially Insta travel 1, 5, 10 or 60,000ly and claim discoveries hence HoloMe,,, you are there in spirit only as far as tagging/mapping goes. If you want to tag/map, you gotta do the miles. I'm sure that'll get bf'd at some point though, until then, happy trails Cmdr's o7.

Most people crewing up for exploration are doing it for the credits anyway... or would be doing it for them, if they got any. (Source: the players I've spoken to whenever I opened my seats up for them.) Not getting tags is probably a good idea, not getting any reward isn't.

I'm not sure about this - when you cash in your UC data and have been in MC in the meantime there's a +CR bonus "(including multicrew)" or something like that. I think you DO get some benefit from exploration MC just you got to wait until you talk to the UC afterwards.

Yeah, the multicrew system is designed to calculate its payouts based on scans made with the old exploration system, and they forgot/failed to actually hook the FSS into it when they introduced the new mechanics, so there are no payouts to multicrew members for exploration. An outcome which maintains a wonderful equilibrium in that it both sucks and blows, in equal measure.

It'd be nice to be able to share credit on discovery tags with our crew, much as we have with joint expeditions in the real world, and I could definitely see this encouraging more use of multi-crew. Athough I could see how this could lead to the sysmap hover-overs getting fairly cluttered if there were a possible max of up to 6 tags on every planetary body.

As for answering the original post....
There's one foolproof way to ensure both you and your multicrew partner get your names on discoveries.
Each explore opposite sides of the galaxy, and take turns visiting the other's ship.
One of you will get all the discoveries in their ship the other will get all the ones you both make on their side of the galaxy.
