How do you control when using VR and can't see the keyboard?

hi

all new here :)

i wonder how do you control when you can't see the keyboard?

i guess advanced joystick can help?

i only have an old extreme 3d pro, and the limit controls, so any tips are welcome :)

thanks :)

now i have an X55 which has a lot of buttons.
however before then I make a custom profile using my old MS sidewinder and an xbox 360 pad compined. ED is brilliant in how it lets you use as many controllers as you can shake a stick at.****

also failing that, voice attack helps - but only if you are not playing on a mic with mates.

messaging using text comms is less than ideal, i suppose i could set macros up for set messages, however to be honest i just use a combination of touch typing and using the crack at the bottom of the HMD.

sure, my messages are garbled but they are usually understandable and I can just hope people assume i am foreign ;)

**** when I can be bothered I plan on making a new control system with my sidewinder sick, my X55 stick and my accelerator and brake pedals from my clubsports..... I reckon this could be a fantastic custom set up. Twin flight stick with FA off sounds good to me ;)

huge joystick with many, many buttons,

\oh and helpful hint, when you open beer cans, turn the ringpull around 180 and press it flat, you can now use the hole in the ringpul to hold a straw securely in place

Can anyone here verify they are able to get ALL functions for ED gameplay on an X52, or X52Pro? I know everyone says they can on an X55, but what about X52. I did read the entire X52/X55 thread and although I got lots of good information and personal preference, I only read some references between getting it all on an X52.
My X52Pro is a bit screwy so I have asked to return it to Amazon, but it works well enough so might keep it.

From my comfortable set-up, I would try to bind important key close to WSAD (WS for throttle, and any button around for Landing gear, frameshift, boost, cargo menu movement),

and leave the directional control to joystick with the 4 directional hat (pitch, yaw, roll on the joystick // and on the HAT with vertical thrust, horizontal thrust )

with some practice(just like typing), you should have no need in looking at keyboard.

So, a normal keyboard and simple joystick would do, of course, it still require the VR system.

Primary stuff on HOTAS, everything on VoiceAttack. Recently tried ED on triple screens, but with no VR, no VoiceAttack and no HOTAS, it was a pretty bland experience.
