Newcomer / Intro How do you edit a thread title?

Just found out how: if it's your thread (and I assume that's all that would be allowed) it's all part of "editing". Just hit the "edit" button of the initial post and away you go. Thanks. (y)

Ooooop! Well that works with this thread but not with others ....... ???? :(

IIRC there's a timer inside which you can correct typos etc.. When the time runs out only admins/moderators can edit thread title.
Right ...... if so, disappointing ...... :(

I wanted to broaden the title of my thread "Combat: Target Location?" to cover other issues I'm having with combat ......

IMHO the thread title is critical and the author should have the opportunity to change it if he considers it appropriate, as is done at other forums.

Once the thread has been replied to you cannot edit your thread title. You can however then ask a moderator to do it for you - just click the report button on your OP and explain what you want in the subsequent text box that comes up.

With due respect, I am still able to modify the title of this thread and there have been 8 replies prior to this one. Further, the thread has been up now for just on an hour.
In regard to reporting, I have just done that. (y)

Erm, this is getting confusing.
Well, my memory isn't at its peak performance anymore, that's my excuse! :D

Interesting - I wonder if it has been changed at all. Certainly when we moved to this forum software the situation was as I mentioned - I discovered that due to my propensity for posting without proof-reading and missing typos in the thread title. I could correct them as long as I got in before any replies but not afterward. I have never seen it written anywhere - maybe one of the mods can elucidate as I have no idea which dev is supposed to be looking after the forum now that Brett has moved on.

Well when I tried to look at the forums yesterday morning I got a message saying they were upgrading or updating so things might have changed.

Very interesting. Of course, I don't/didn't know Brett, but I assume someone is overseeing the forum and its operation.

I now can't edit the title of this thread as I could previously. It looks like its time-based. I can see the reasons why there is such a restriction, but won't bore you with those. However, here's that other forum that allows you to do just that:
