How do you fight Guardian Sentinels?

Also dont forget you can repair your srv, even during combat. I've farmed most of the guardian stuff and contrary to what all the pros here say, you will get flipped sometime depending on the angle they approach. If you are really worried about it or bad at flipping yourself back over (using their 'push' while boosting helps) try to position yourself near a structure where you can get an angle on them and shoot but their shots dont hit you.

I honestly had no idea you could repair it during combat, but that's a brilliant tip for the next time something catastrophic happens. I got flipped again getting some more tech pieces but it was as easy as usual to right myself - the thing almost does it on its own (if it's not stuck in an SRV shaped hole). What a difference in ferocity being helplessly stuck and being casually bouncing around makes to your perception of sentinels right?

Thanks for the tip!

1) always turret mode
2) synth premium ammo
3) use the site features to block their line of fire
4) point defense of ship and land it in the site
5) pips 3/1/3
6) if you are getting hit and can’t hide, put brake on

It gets easier and more fun once you learn the AI and start tricking them

Some are making this out to be more complicated than it needs to be.

Just 90 degrees and forward and reverse to dodge their shots while in turret mode to fire back. 4 pips to weapons will kill one before they fire missiles. You can do this at fairly short range.

If you're taking on more than one, go long range. If they fire their missiles you can target and shoot them down from SRV before going back to Sentinels.

No point defense, handbrake, pip management, premium ammo or anything. Forward, reverse, fire and some targeting. Easy peasy lemon squeezy.

Wasn't it so that you can activate the pylons from your ship as well? Or what else did I fit that small fixed beam into my DBX for? Think that was what I did last time anyway, on other occasions, I simply fought them on the ground (in VR, nice when the SRV topples over).

I usually just kite them from fairly long ranges while peeking behind guardian structures or terrain. They are not hard, just tedious when there's a lot of them. The point defence is nice to have because when the sentinels are charging up their missiles, they are basically letting you shoot at them with impunity if you don't have to worry about those missiles. Just drive right next to it and let it have it.

Watched Exigeous' guide to unlocking the FSD Booster, went out to HD whatsisname, parked really close to the ruins with my DbX (2 point defense), and as soon as the two initial columns activated two sentinels appeared. Cool, I thought, here we go! Let's do this!

Then they shot my SRV and flipped me over. I was stuck in those useless ruins and couldn't do a damn thing about it, and they blew up my one and only SRV (does the video even mention to bring two??).

? I just travelled 2000LY to have some goon alien robots basically hold me down and beat me with bars of soap in socks.

How do I get around this? I'm extremely frustrated. If I bother going anywhere like that again I'd like to know how to avoid this happening, it's pretty lame and patience-wearing.

Cheers!

They do that, knock over the SRV that is. You might try synthesizing some upgraded ammo for the SRV repeater, supposedly more effective than "standard" repeater ammo, maybe that will bring down the sentinels more quickly. Another thing I have done is to fit a PDM to my small ship (a DBX), park the DBX very close to the Guardian site and set ship's pips to WEPS and SYS before deploying the SRV. If I am being over whelmed by sentinels I can hide near/under the ship and the PDM intercepts many of the in coming sentinel missiles as I am shooting back from near the SRV.

Bear in mind that close to the ship your SRV turret stows so you are not able to engage the Sentinel - therefore "under the ship" won't work and remember not too "near the ship". :)

Vaporizing Sentinels

Handbrake is usefull but if you're on the high ground they will flip you over nevertheless. Position yourself so that their shots' "push" wouldn't flip you over. I put full pips on SYS and rest on WEP when I'm fighting against 3 or 4 of those. I put full pips on WEP if they are like 2 or 1. Have point defence on your ship to destroy missles and land it close to the site.

Also when you get flipped over you can put pips on the engines and press space and A or D to correct yourself. If you're going to do multiple runs have materials for refuel and rearm. Premium refuel lasts for very long but you're often gonna need to synth ammo. I have used like %80 of my ammo per run, note that I also destroyed leaning towers for mats - which I recommend you to do so if you're gonna unlock lots of

If Your SRV is critically damaged and You are under heavy fire so there is no time to repair it - drive full speed outside of the base.
Sentinels missiles have 2.5 km range and they will not follow outside of the defense perimeter.
Sentinels missiles already fired will be in the the air for a very long time circling around and waiting to lock on You.
Park 3 km from the base, repair, recall the ship and obliterate them with missiles or use mines for fun.

After the sentinel is destroyed, You have 2 minutes to collects its parts because they will degrade with time and vanish.

I activate pylons with a beam laser, yet to try to activate sentinels with a ship (bumping exact spawn spots -visibly marked on the ground).

For the challenge, energy and tech parts on pillars and structure can be released from their mounting points and slightly pushed in the air with the ship heavy fire, so many of them can be grabbed with a ship cargo bay (using small and agile ship e.g. AspX).
