How do you figure out what building the settlement alarm is in?

Other than breaking into buildings one by one and looking is there a way to tell where the settlement alarm is?

This is an agriculture settlement. I know that alarms can be on the second floor of the power building, but I got up on a ledge and looked through the window on the side of the second floor I have seen them before and I saw no panels at all. I don't think it would be in either of the two very large agriculture buildings that each has three domes. That leave the odd large agriculture building with no domes that is by the power building or the storage building.

Okay cool - I didn't know if the alarm covered from several sources, or just one where the thingy is, if that makes sense?!
cant say to be honest :D
I just remembered a game from childhood birthday parties, to search the sweets... "hot...hotter...desert..." :D
if you played it... "loud...louder...tinnitus" ...well... that would explain a bit ;)

Find a terminal that is not on the path of the guard patrols and hack it using an e-breach
Usually the building that is at one end of the landing pads (usually the far end from the settlement) is having a such secluded terminal
Some other times you will find terminals at the structures that look like a gate.

Thanks for the tips!

It was easy enough to clone a L3 profile from a roof window of the main ag building and found a terminal on the side of the main ag bujilding that was hidden from any guard!
Yup, also over time you will learn where they are on each base layout, the guards movements on the way and around them... and be able to beeline there straight away to disable them without much trouble. A lot of the time with patience, you can also just tailgate into the building without issue, leaving no evidence outside to be found by guards and ruin your day.

Now when I have some experience with settlements, I started to improvise and it's big fun. I'm not 100% sure where is what, just walk in the settlement in quiet Dominator G5 with quiet plasma weapons, walk around, guards can scan me, there's still nothing to hide, take a look which level I need for Command building (or any other building where alarm panel would be) then in any darker corner, outside of main routes kill one guard, usually with level 1, then use this level to enter Command or any other building to quickly kill somebody with level 2 or 3, and then to find alarm. It must be fast and quiet, it's risky - but really big fun!

Either in Power or Command in my experience

  1. If the base is large enough/right type to have a CMD building, it should be there. It should also be behind doors labeled "Security".
  2. In large Agriculture bases, where it's almost one long building with the PWR room attached, it's in the power room.
  3. The PWR building is a good place to look if a base doesn't have a CMD building. However, some tourist sites have it a large HAB building (second or third floor I believe).
  4. Sometimes the Alarm is in the second floor of an IND building (along with the Authorisation Scan panel) up in an overlook/balcony area.

Protip: If possible, find a terminal in a secluded location and apply an E-breach to it (assuming you don't already have L3 security clearance). Then browse through every building in the facility list until you find the Alarms panel and the select it to mark it on your HUD. Some bases have nice, secluded terminals right near where you land your ship - sometimes even in little buildings (still exposed to vacuum) where no guard ever goes and can't see you. Remember, Ebreaches are your friend! And if guard should scan you while you're holding some, quickly eject them from your back pack before he finishes the scan! :)
