Engineers How do you find out your true shield strength?

CMDR's

I see alot of posts, with shields quoted at over 3000mj, even one guy claiming 6000mj.

My shields, A7 on a corvette with Grade 5 Reinforced modification are only displaying around 2000 in the outfitting.

Now I do have 6x A0 shield boosters. All Grade 5 Resistance Augmented modified.

I did make sure I got good rolls on the modifications. But on looking at my value there at only 2000, I'm begining to feel I have missed something. Or done something wrong.

Am I just looking at it wrong and I should be adding more numbers in my head to take the boosters into account?

Or by not modifying the boosters to Heavy Duty I have screwed it up? Cos I went for all Resistance as I wanted the lightest build possible? And resistance augmented dont add shield strength?

I do appreciate that some CMDR's have prismic shields and that will add more. But to be over double even triple my value?

I'm not in for PvP and mostly play in Solo. But I just wanted to know I was doing "it" the right way.

Help appreciated

People simply quote their effective shield strength at 4 pips against whatever they are most resistant to and post that number.

my shield strength in outfitting is 4750.8. I'm using grade 5 reinforced shields plus 6 grade 5
heavy duty busters. I believe the difference for you is that you are using resistance augmented
booster not heavy duty.

Yes, as others have said, OP, if you want to approach the 5,000 Mj mark you need to rely on a lot of heavy duty boosters.

Your 'effective' shield can then be around 20,000 Mj versus thermal/kinetic/explosive (not collision) damage with your resistance mods and 4 pips to sys.
