Horizons How do you find POI on the surface of planets quickly?

Must be a dump question - by tips&tricks would be appreciated.

I am off for exploration in my light weight built conda. That means I cannot bust to cover large distances above the planet.

Was wondering if there is a better way to find POI without actually need to hover circumventing whole planet hoping to see purple area on the radar.

The only alternative is landing and driving around with the SRV. Doesn't take that long most of the time.

But I don't see where the problem is with flying around over the surface. For me it rarely takes longer than a minute until finding a blue circle.

technically I never had a problem with finding those blue circles, BUT - being 5k ly away from bubble I have not seen any blue circles so far. And I tried. I also understand them are randomly generated by game so I should get my ones occasionally.

At the same time - a buddy of mine once joined me - I was about 1kly away from bubble he landed and found some guarded refinery and a wreckage.

Does this mean I am too far away to find anything?

Try watching some of this, I go through how to find POI's more effectively. Just one thing I didnt mention, and that is to zoom out your SRV map when on the surface.

Stay about 1.5 to 2Km above the surface, make sure you set your scanner to maximum range, and you shouldn't need to fly for long before getting a 'blue' contact circle. Head towards the middle (you may see the target, especially if it's smooth or icy terrain).

If not, descend and land anyhow and deploy the SRV. If you're looking for wreckage/installations/barnacles/dropped cargo, keep an eye on the top of your Wave Scanner band for blips; materials show up in the lower half of the band. It sometimes helps to dismiss your ship, as it's a very strong contact that might be hiding a POI on the far side of the ship.

A quick update. By following suggestions above I did managed to find my first POI some 4.5K ly away from inhabited space. Funny enough it was wreckage with occupied escape pods and some narcotics. :))))

My way of finding POIs, depending on your graphics settings, is to fly to your landable planet, in whatever ship you like, and cruise at maximum speed, at atleast 2km from the surface, with your sensor range at maximum.
Once you see the blue circle, fly to the edge, and drop down to about 1-1.5km,
(Fly higher than the render range of rocks, but low enough to see the POI)

Then point your ship at the other side of the ring, and start flying. Go FA/OFF, and look around for anything black. Check you're not depending too much.
If you have the range right, shadows and rocks won't show up, but your POI will.
At 1.5km the POI of a crashed SRV can be a tiny spec. Easy to miss. But a crashed ship shows up a little bigger.
Either way, those will show up looking like rocks, but much further away than rocks will show up!
Once you find it, just land and go about your business!

I did try using the collector limpet trick, but for some reason, the cargo at the POIs doesn't spawn until you get within about 50m. Lol so the limpets no longer zoom off giving you a clue.

If you get any pesky skimmers spawning underground, shooting up at you, use missiles to kill them, but it will destroy the cargo too. Lol

Its harder to find Pois out 5 k. And there is not so much cargo out there.
The shipwrecks you find look older and more beeten.
2-3 k ly is still good for finding good cargo.
But you get more experience in exploration driving on planets long way from Sol. So even not finding Pois, driving can be valueble.
