How do you get a permit - what do you have to do ??

I would like to get a permit to the unknown -- is there such a thing ?? or even to SOL ,,,
I have been just avoiding going there -- is everything going to be a hassle
even posting or using a FORM is a problem at this time !! I enjoy playing this game -- but not all the problems !!

Various permits have different requirements.
Being friendly with certain NPC factions, (Alioth, etc.)
Reaching specific ranks with a superpower. (Sol, Achenar, etc.)
Achieving elite rating in one of the three categories (Shinrarta)

Thank you so much for the information --- You would think that ( the game people ) would let you know that right off !
I spent days in the dark zone looking for a way to get out before I noticed a un-highlighted notice that only said { permit required }
