How do you get your holo me 'out'

So I could spend time searching for the answer (and am happy to be linked to somewhere) but figured it's more fun to ask the forum, and maybe it helps someone else too.

I've seen people use their in game holo me avatar as the forum avatar or in EDSM......how? As in how do you get the image out?
I figured snipping tool but that seems a bit low tech so there would have to be a better way.

Well, i used snipping tool. No other magic.

press print when in holo (windowed mode only)

open paint(any picture editor)

paste to new pic

cut ur avs head out and save

I really suggest taking a look at the snipping tool instead of doing it that hard and complex way..

I took a screen shot and then uploaded to flickr and cropped it. Now that people mention it. Snipping tool would have been much easier.....[haha]

thats how we do it for ages now, snipping tool works too but i prefer to work at a fixed file instead

You can screenshoot and crop the save screen portrait to have a perfectly square and centered avatar.
