How do you guys have your controls on Xbox set for combat?

Oh, they fail. 360 controllers are a lot more fragile and the XB1 controllers.

That's why I got a nice Elite controller. It feels so good. And if you're using an Elite controller for PC, you can map special functions to the back paddles for four extra buttons.

You CAN do that on PC now? Huh.

Oh well, I've got a Speedlink Quinox arriving tomorrow, and that has two extra buttons over the Elite. ;)

I stick to default controls. The only thing I changed was Y + LB is no longer Silent Running, as I've hit it accidentally when trying to FA off, so now it's Deploy Heatsink. Everything else is mapped pretty well.
I'd definitely double-check your defaults for driving the SRV though as sometimes it unmaps all controls.

Strong recommendation to hotkey the "select next system in route" command, plus a few fighter commands.

I switched FA off to my left stick press. Silky smooth.

Whatever you use, have a printout handy. Can't tell you how many times I forget which button combo turns on/off silent running. I remember once I turned it on by accident and couldn't figure out how to turn it back off..... which obviously didn't turn out well for me.

Thanks for the feedback guys. I just received my new controller, which this thread was made for.

Thanks. :)

I have noticed that my controls reset every now and then. i have my controls switched from inverted. But every now and then, it goes back to inverted. Everything else is default.

So I tried mapping bumper combinations and it didn't differentiate between them. I went RB+LB=50% throttle and LB+RB= reverse 50% throttle. After saving and going back to the game, no matter what combination order I used I just got reverse 50% throttle. I had to clear the LB+RB setting to get the other to work.

But the game did let you bind the two functions separately. Get a screenshot of the configuration and see if you can raise a ticket about it.

If I hold A, it gives me targeting options. Selecting wingmen, their targets, or simply the next hostile ship. It all depends on what button I press.

SLF commands are on a similar set up.

Chaff for me is LB+RB.

Apparently selecting wingman target only works when you have your wingman targeted first. Why won't it just let me cycle through my wingman's targets (if I have my wingmates have different targets selected)? I think that would be much quicker than selecting your wingman than selecting his target.

Okay. It may take me a few days, its my girlfriend's birthday weekend. But yes, it did let me map them separately: hold LB then hit RB and hold RB then hit LB. It took them as different commands. If I'm able to get online this weekend I will screenshot the controller setup page and record a clip of me trying to use it. If somebody gets to it before me, thank you for taking the time to try it out.

I had my controls set up that way for a while and they worked as separate commands, but I nixed it because I was always mixing the two up in combat. I'll try it out tonight to see if I have any issues.
