How do you increase your immersion in game, without spending lots of money. [VIDEO]

In this video, i am just doing a simple trade run in my Anaconda.
I have 2 crew members, Dark (the Vulcan) sits to my right.
He is my 1st Officer/co-pilot.
Brian sits to my left, he is my communications and navigation officer.
I use the HCS voice pack for Dark. For Brian i use the Ivona voice "Brian". (which i have had from a long time ago, but cheaper options are out there)
My reasons for this is that i am always adding new auto messages, and new systems that he selects in the map for me.
A voice pack is limiting in that you have to use the pre recorded commands, with Text2speech, you can have him say whatever you want.
I spent around £5 on VA, and the same on the voice pack.
Along with the Edtracker which cost me only £10 for the 6050 version, i am using an xbox pad for now, since my joystick died recently.
So not a lot of money to get this sort of immersion.
What do you do to get immersion on the cheap.
New and old ideas are always welcome to new players to try, so speak up here.

squint your eyes, the bad graphics looks blurrey then when you open your eyes fully again it looks clearer. instant.

or you can use SweetFX. Google it.

blame youtube conversion for the graphics, looks ok on my end. It was done on 720p at 60fps. using raptr.
And this was done in the Mobius group.(not that it matters)

i can give you a link to my profile if you wish, i have a lot of systems in there i just ask for on the map, also a lot of auto messages. but you would have to adjust the keybinds to match yours.
you could just look at the commands to give you an idea too.
edit, if you don't have the voice pack, you would have to change them too.

I like what you've done here noss. I followed your perusals on using VA and that program for pasting into VA (can't find the folder on me computer or remember the name of it now), with great success, and can see how these things put together can make for a pretty good custom experience. Good on you mate, well worth the effort!

thank you, yes i remember the program you mentioned, although not needed now as VA has windows clipboard commands built in for messages/map input ect now, i must admit, i have had as much fun setting up VA as i have had in the game.

Completely darken the room, sit as close to screen as possible ( make it bigger ) headphones volume up.. Few beers and radio sidewinder in the background
