Newcomer / Intro How do you invite a friend in your ship?

This afternoon in a private group session we met in the bubble with a friend that just has started the game, so I escorted him for his first transport mission with the Sidewinder, as an example of menu panels, jumps and whatnot. Everything worked fine, but I was unable to invite him inside my two seat AspX, the option was marked red.

How do you manage to invite one cmdr in particular in your ship, and are you necessarily bound to the mentioned activities above the menu? My searches about that matter were unsuccessful, so if any of you have tips about that, I'd be thankful.

We already were in the same team, but still, not working. IDK why, we could fly together, and the other ship marked as blue with the icon up left on the hud, but being in the same ship wasn't possible.
