CMDR gooddoc I completely agree. Currently on my second trip out to Sag A* and have no idea at all how much I have made in cartographic data other than an educated guess from my last trip out.
It would be incredibly easy to programme a CMDRs option to recall the data on planets scanned impact on cartographic data earned.
And let's not be shy on this subject it is (partially) about the money. The fact that "credits earned" is already a feature on the statistics screen is proof of that. So why can't FD expand on that existing feature?
It would also be nice to have an option to go to the gal map and look at systems/planets/stars you have first discovered.
Here is hoping Horizons addresses these issues and others. Explorers have been ignored for way too long. Hopefully this expansion puts that to bed.
While I agree it would be a nice feature to have, I think at least some of the explanation for its absence is that the first discoverer bonus would be impossible to account for until you actually sell the data. While it's highly unlikely that someone will get the tag before me (unless I'm doing a 60k LY journey), it's still possible. Not that they couldn't easily do a workaround for that, though.
For me personally, I would be more than happy for it just to display the base value of my discoveries and then for any first discoveries to be a nice bonus on my return to port. As a first time explorer (literally - I think ive sold 3 stars worth of data and no planets prior to departing) on a reasonable length journey to Sag A* it would be really helpful for me to be able to track and gauge this aspect of my trip as I went.
I still find it hard to believe that after handing in my data I wont be able to easily see my first discovered planets, FD have to add this feature soon if they are serious about people becoming dedicated explorers....its one of the main reasons I'm out here![]()
I agree completely. I'm considering returning to the bubble to sell my data (I'm about 5 kly away) and have no idea how much data I even have. Even if it doesn't say the sell price, would be nice to know how many systems and objects I'm carrying data for.For me personally, I would be more than happy for it just to display the base value of my discoveries and then for any first discoveries to be a nice bonus on my return to port. If you are an optimist you will get more than you think
If you are a pessimist you will get less than you think
If you are apathetic you dont care how much
If you are paranoid you will crash and burn before you have time to sell it anyway
If you have OCD (obsessive compulsive disorder, not the software thang) you will log every single scan and work it out manually
LOL, well I guess I'm going with option three, as its my only choice. I'm too laid back for 4 and 5, and I'm too old for options 1 or 2.
Think I worked out I get (ROUGHLY) 2mil per Light year. Mind you I don't start exploring really till I'm at least 1.5k Ly out
.
I'm an erratic scanner , I could do a whole system or cherry pick it , as people have said before....depends what mood your in
