How do you plot your routes ?

Random Mode = Scroll back a little aim towards general destination, click n go.

Focused Mode = Just like Alex does, heavy use of the grid.

Stop in Search Mode = Zoom out a tad, filter by Star Class, jump to specific Star systems, I find the most ELW's using this mode.

Pick a direction 1000LY away from current position, and go.
However, I'm thinking about changing to eco mode to see more systems.

After my first 9 week trip I only do week long ones now.

I do each one in a different ship. So far I've used the Sidewinder, Hauler, Adder, Asp, Courier and currently a 35LY jump DBX.

I also do different star types quite often for each trip, so mainly Os, As, and Fs or mainly Gs, Ks and Ms, which
requires single jump plotting. For my week in the Courier I never got more than 600LY from Sol and earnt 7 million
at Lembava. In the DBX I'm doing more 'traditional' 1,000LY economical routes.

I've never been to Sag A or the Neutron fields but I'm considering it to finally get Elite status.
I'm mulling over getting an Anaconda for that trip, just in case I'd like to go further on.

Pretty much similar to most everyone else, other than the fact I tried to pick the most uninteresting part of the galaxy to explore in, all of the interesting places will still be around when I get to them, I just wanted to see my name on the galactic map and hence headed in a direction where I considered I would have the best chance of achieving that.

I've now started to set myself little goals in respect of exploration to try and make it slightly more meaningful to myself, whether that be visit all the stars in a certain constellation etc.

However having just come in from 2 weeks for deep space time, I am about to probably set out on my largest organised project yet of visiting every star in alphabetical order from the list at this website.

It may take some time to achieve but its nice to have a goal to aim for

I used to use all the techniques described here, but recently my Galaxy Map only shows systems within a 50LY radius of my system of interest, so long jumps are difficult to plot. Is everyone else getting this or is it just me?

I find where I want to go say 5000, 1000, 20000
Look where I am say 1000, 0, 3000
Work out the difference in each direction 4000, 1000, 17000
Reduce those in proportion to make roughly 1000 LY so divide each by 20 will do the job: 200, 50, 850
Then just add that you current position, find the start nearest it and let the route plotter work it out.
Make sure you write down the offset and you don't need to remember everything else

I'm in the neutron fields now so I just find the near neutron vaguely north of me each time. Have to be a bit cleverer than that as sometimes the dense centre of the field jumps up a few hundred LY so you need to go North AND up/down for a but.

I use the same method as CMDR DoubleSkulls. Then once another leg has been plotted I make a note of it, so if I don't get there in that session I can select it the next time I'm back on and continue along my merry way.

Although I also move up & down as I move forward and stop for anything interesting.

Currently on my way back from my current trip and itching to get back, so I'm now plotting 500+ routes with Neutron's, Black Holes or White Dwarf's as the destination. Anything in between I'm just speeding through and using as scoop stops, unless I spot anything Earth Like.
