How do you track favorite systems?

I think it may have been a combination of development time/resources and that no matter what FD produced people would want something different. There are a few 3rd party apps that collect data from the systems/stations you travel to - you could suppliment these with your own notes.

It certainly has nothing to do with what we can do now or may be able to do in 3100+ - this game isn't seeking to predict future technologies (in the same way we do have ftl in ED even though we don't have it now and are extremely unlikely to have it by 3100).

Ok boss. :p

Arry.

Excel. I've usually got one spreadsheet or another open on my Surface when playing.

^ This

I run a spread sheet with a few tabs

1. called contacts which is laid out ike this:

System: Station: Sys-Sov: Sta-Sov: Blackmarket ?: Outpost?: Sales Slaves: QoH: Buys Slaves: Sales Imp Slave QoH: Buys Imp Slaves: Date Updated:

I record the prices of the various things I smuggle. basic info about the station

2. Called Routes:

Starting Station: Ending Station: Balance:

These are the current routes I am running obviously... It also allows me to see at a glance what seems to net me the largest profits.

I have some other various pages in that excel workbook, but they are not really relevant.

Anyhow After I collect a good amount of data on systems over a week span I try to figure out what's profitable.
This is a little work, because I have to occasionally go back though my list of systems and visit ones that I have not been to recently I generally save off the workbook as a copy then update
this way I have historical data, and at some point I can say something like System XYZ has a statistically High Buy point for X item in comparison to all the other stations I have been two over the span of a 4 month period.

Then I know that Station is a keeper and to try to work it into my standard smuggling route..

I add and remove stuff from my routes as profit margins drop and increase....

P.S Typed this out in a rush at work, so sorry for grammatical and spelling errors, illogically constructed sentences etc.. etc... .

I just buy the cheapest ship in the shipyard for certain areas I'm interested in. Although constant visits make it naturally easy to remember them.

I use a combination of pen and paper and a spreadsheet. Now that I've begun my exploration voyage, the spreadsheet is doing most of the work, but I'll still jot down quick notes in the notebook.

EDDiscovery2 to log the system names.
Google Sheet that I made for recording my jump distances. It's open on my N7 and I record any details as I go along, manually entering jump distance, objects of interest and so on.
I copy the output from EDD2 into the Sheet after my game session.

This is a blank version of the Sheet that I use. Feel free to take a copy and modify it to your needs.
It includes tallies for the different world types discovered, and running statistics on your jumps and distances.
