How does "discovered systems" work in solo play vs. open play?

I swap between solo, group, and open play all the time depending on my mood. I really want to be forced to do most of the discovery of stuff in the galaxy myself vs. having it explored by others who spend more time in the game. So is there a difference in discovered systems and data if you play pure solo play vs. pure open play?

Its the same in solo and open. Same universe exactly in every way except you won't actually see other players in solo, but they are still there trading, selling data and so on.

Currently it works as if the other players didnt exist. If somebody discovers a system, you and everyone else can rediscover it again like you all were the first. There is no first to it thing implemented.

I think the whole point of the shared universe is it should eventually work that way, but then again they for 'gameplay' reasons they may let everyone discover every system like they were the first.

Basically you are discovering it for you, it's new to you, others may already have their maps... I supposed that although it might be nice feeling to add to the global map that this way everyone gets a chance to find places.

I dont like the way discovery works.
By allowing everone to "explore" every system like they were the first to do it, it removes the fun of feeling of acomplishment.

Me thought was that the traders and bounty hunters would occupy the centralmhub systems and the explorers would be delving futher and further into the galaxy in search of the unknown.

Another feature that works against making the universe feel persistent and alive.

If you go about three or fours jumps away from the populated centre you can be pretty certain that you will be the first in most of the systems you scan. Just go into galaxy map and scroll out to see what you know and what is still left... Plenty for all methinks

You get less money for discovering it after the first person and I believe discovered systems will eventually be populated with Stations and outposts as the game progresses. I have read this in Newsletters and saw it posted but off-hand I can't bring you the quotes but that is the plan and then there is the planet landing, FPS etc.
