How does high notoriety effect rebuy?

The cost of the rebuy is affected by your or your killer's notoriety; the higher your notoriety, the more it will cost, but the higher your killer's notoriety, the less it will cost.

So, my question is, how is this calculated? There are no details. I want to make sure my rebuy is covered. For example, if I have a normal rebuy of 60mil, bounties of 100mil, and a notoriety of 10, worst case (I am killed by a player with zero notoriety or an NPC?) what would my rebuy be?

Thank you in advance.

This is what Sandro had to say about it.

From that page:

Notoriety also helps the victim. For each point of Notoriety your killer had when they murdered you, your rebuy cost is reduced by 6% in compensation by the Pilot's Federation. Basically, your rebuy will be more than halved when you fall foul of a Notoriety 10 murderer.

Which the wiki seems in agreement with, except the wiki provides additional information pertaining to when you have a high notoriety.

That is to say, Sandro mentions nothing about your rebuy being higher due to you having a high notoriety. So, is the wiki in error or did Sandro merely not mention this? Does anyone have any experience with this in game?

It's not a contradiction, both are stating the same and Sandro explains in detail how rebuys are calculated:
CriminalsRebuy = CriminalsRebuy + (CriminalsRebuy - VictimsRebuy) / 10 * NotorietyPoints, if CriminalsRebuy > VictimsRebuy.

Suppose you kill me in my stock Sidewinder with your stock Imperial Cutter, and your Notoriety is 5:
10,420,122 + ((10,420,122 - 1,550) / 10) * 5 = 10,420,122 + 5,209,286 = 15,629,408 CR + unknown ramping factor

If you kill me in my stock Imperial Cutter with your stock Sidewinder (or any ship that has lower insurance cost), no extra value is added.

I think we are talking about separate things here. Those calculations you provided seem to pertain to bounties received. I am wondering about rebuys by themselves for the killed player.

I mean obviously if a stock Cutter kills a stock Sidewinder the Sidewinder’s rebuy isn’t going to be 15mil. That’s the addition to the bounty the Cutter receives.

My question is basically, suppose I am in my Cutter with 10 notoriety and someone kills me. Is my rebuy modified (not including the bounties)?

Sandro’s post says that if someone with high notoriety kills a player, the victims rebuy is reduced by 6% per notoriety point of the killer. Is the reverse true? If someone with 10 notoriety is killed, is their rebuy raised by 60%? Sandro doesn’t mention anything about that, but the wiki implies otherwise as quoted here and previously:

The cost of the rebuy is affected by your or your killer's notoriety; the higher your notoriety, the more it will cost, but the higher your killer's notoriety, the less it will cost.

Sorry, you are correct - the calculation is for bounties. His first point is unclear, but it addresses rebuy costs for a criminal: "For every point of notoriety, an additional cost is added, equal to small fraction of your ship's rebuy value. This fraction increase ramps up as your Notoriety increses, so at Notoriety 10 you will be paying much, much more than at Notoriety 1."

I'd say that the insurance for your Cutter is reduced only if your killer has notoriety as well: "For each point of Notoriety your killer had when they murdered you, your rebuy cost is reduced by 6% in compensation by the Pilot's Federation. Basically, your rebuy will be more than halved when you fall foul of a Notoriety 10 murderer."

My conclusion is that your rebuy will be more than halved if his notoriety is 10, even if yours is 10 as well. Luckily I have no experience and can't verify that. ;)

...and presumably this means that there is no penalty for additional rebuy based on notoriety. That is, if I have 10 notoriety and am killed by someone with 0 notoriety, then I don't pay (for example) 60% extra. Still wondering if anyone has confirmed this?
