How does it work when buying new ships?

Hi

I just bought my first new ship, a Hauler. Can I change to my old Sidewinder when I want?

When I cam to a new system a few jumps away, and looked in the ship market again, it said
Hauler: -2300CR (or so, not sure exactly how much).
Does that mean If I buy a Hauler I get 2300CR for doing that?

Where do I insure my ship?

Great game

sorry but you traded the sidewinder in to buy the hauler, and once you've bought it you cant buy the same as its not permitted (you will see the hauler is in red in the shipyard menu) the price difference may be caused by any cargo/upgrades you have bought or it could just be a bug, i'll leave that to you to decide.

as for insurance you already have it, the policy comes with the ship. you will have to pay an excess if you crash it though so make sure you save enough credits to cover 10% of the ships cost and leave yourself enough money to carry on trading as cargo is not covered.

Not in the beta, I heard it will be possible in the full game though.

Insurance is automatic, you just need to make sure you have enough money in the bank to cover it. At the minute you might need a calculator to be sure as the game does not tell you how much exactly as yet.

Yes. I switch ships frequently and it doesn't appear that I'm losing anything doing so, although I haven't actually verified this exactly. I assume this is to facilitate testing. I'm guessing it will change in the final game, but at this time you lose very little if anything trading out ships and equipment.

multiship ownership is coming, currently if you buy more another ship you are trading in your old ship and paying difference, so if you buy more expensive ship you will pay difference, but if the ship you buy is cheaper than your current then you will receive money, those -23 000cr means you will receive 23k.

ships are traded in for 90% of their value, so you lose 10% every time you switch ships, but as i said - multiship ownership is already developed and will be in the game, read Design Discussion Archive forum for more info ;)
