How does one cripple Civil Liberty and Boom?

How does one cripple Civil Liberty and Boom?

Does bio wasting and selling things at a loss the the controlling faction still help?

Seems different websites give different opinions!

Drugs, guns and booze.
Only if they're illegal and sold on a black market, or part of a "smuggle" mission.

If they're legal, they help economic state. So says four years of boom caused by doing exactly this

Truth is, activities to create negative states (or rather; combating positive states) are grossly under-represented at the moment.

EDIT: And for the proof of that pie, look at the number of positive states compared to negative as of 31 July this year, noting Famine doesn't even exist. Thanks @Mangal Oemie

EDIT: Oh, for context, Lockdown, Civil Unrest, Bust and Famine are the "Negative" states. War/Civil War are not "negative states" in this context.

What's this pirate activity state? I've triggered it multiple times in the past, but it sounds like it actually rewards the opposing faction by increasing the payouts for things like bounties and such. I thought surely blowing up their civilians would cause unrest.

Also, everybody is happy all the time, right? Even if a Thargoid is eating your grandmother, happiness is the only state of being in ED? They must have good drugs in 3305.

Pirate Attack is caused by high levels of activity for a particular faction, but has a very long hidden pending period to make detailed analysis of the mechanism impractical. It doesn't appear to do very much other than make trade prices briefly higher for a lot of goods.

There's also Civil Unrest/Lockdown which generate "Pirate Activity" threat 5+ POIs. Those POIs do provide good bounty hunting opportunities to try to counter the Civil Unrest with. Civil Unrest cuts market production for most goods by 20%, with Lockdown shutting down the market entirely if it gets that far.

Similarly, if it ever appeared in the first place, Famine would create a lot of good trade opportunties which would tend to draw the economy slider back towards neutral.

In simple terms you probably need to go illegal.
Attack controlling faction's ships, shoot the police.
Steal from traders.
You'll get wanted status and be person nongrata in that system, so you need an anarchy system to run back to for supplies.
And with bounty on your head, other players are perfectly in their rights to attack you at a moments notice.
That'll reverse the good times.
😐

I thought you'd take away their guns, close the newspapers, control their minds with hypnorays, then light the fuse on the bomb and run, of course, because you don't want to be there when it goes ……...

BOOM!
