Newcomer / Intro How does the commodities market "consumed/produced" suggested prices work?

Hi all. Beginner pilot here.
Just a simple few questions if anyone could please help.
Going into the commodities market on any station, I'm seeing the panel on the right that shows which stations I could potentially sell at and where that item is "consumed by/ also produced by".
  1. Do the prices appear and update in real time?
  2. Are the prices only shown for stations I've landed at?
  3. Are the prices shown for all stations in that system if I've only landed at one of those stations?
  4. Will the Pilots academy beginner area prices dissapear eventually? I can't visit those stations again so there's no point me trying to sell in those systems.
Also, a non market related question. Is there any way to set ship outfitting configurations? What I mean is, rather than swapping out multiple hardpoints, internals, externals just to fill a seperate role for one ship? Or is it a common thing to have multiple ships for a specific role? I'm early in the game see and only have a Cobra MK3, which I'm using for mining, missions/combat and deliveries, sometimes swapping out all that gear takes time, not to mention getting stored equipment sent to the current station.
I appreciate any help or answers, I really need it, feeling a bit lost in the galaxy and learning my way around!
Thank you
Seph

Unfortunately there is no way to store ship configurations, it has been requested but nothing yet, many of us have multiple ships for both different and the same rolls.

Myself I have several combat ships two of which are different configurations of the same hull, a couple of different miners, cargo haulers of different sizes and so on.

1. Yes
2. Yes
3. Yes
4. No (or I don't think so), once you've visited a station in a system the prices for all stations in that system are always available.

Ok, I'm a bit late here. But I just used this "also consumed by" list for the first time (haven't played in quite a while).
Selling LTS at/near Colonia. EDDB only showed Jacques Station at about 410k, the rest lower (yes, much better prices in the bubble, but I'm not there).

When I was about to sell there, even for a lower price than shown in EDDB, the list showed about 580k at Colonia Dream in Ratraii. So, of course I go there.
... to find the price to be only at about 130k. Heck, and while there, it advertised Jacques Station also at about 580k.

Perhaps those would be the prices, if there wasn't huge supply. But that's pretty useless for live data.

Those prices are the prices that would be given to you if you only had one tonne in your hold. You've probably got a hundred tonnes or so? Then the buyers take a sneak peek into your cargo hold, see you've got a hundred tonnes of the things which they don't want, and lower their prices accordingly.

If you want to get max prices for LTD, void opals and whatnot, then only mine one tonne at a time. No, it's not very efficient doing that, but you will get max prices. And unless you're selling to a station with demand more than 10x your current cargo amount, then you're going to see this effect.

Happened to me in the bubble.. when to one place where the consumed by price was almost double what was available. Went to the next station and the price was nowhere near that ... so not that reliable at all!

It works fine for all trade except for a small selection of mined commodities that are priced in the hundreds of thousands of Credits per tonne. And that isn't to do with it giving inaccurate prices but with a mechanism called 'Bulk Sales Tax' at the point of sale, which in essence reduces the price offered if you try to sell large quantities of a single commodity at a station. While this tax applies to all commodities, and has been in the game from day one, it's barely noticeable on any regular trade goods. But the hugely inflated prices of certain mined goods make it very noticeable for them.

So if you just want to trade those specific few mined commodities and get the highest possible price, you're probably better looking in one of the many, many threads dedicated to that specific topic where they'll explain the necessary 'tax avoidance' schemes :)

Always look to industrial/tourist worlds to sell diamonds, sometimes just 35k ls away prices double the galactic average, other goods do this also but double diamonds are 500k+
