How does time work in Planet Coaster?

I just noticed that I have absolutely no idea how time in PC works.
At first I thought that 1 real-life-second was 1 in-game-minute and that 1 in-game-day had 15 in-game-minutes.
Sounds simple enough, but then I started changing my opening times and everything started falling apart.
If my park never closes 1 real-life-second is about 10 in-game-minutes and 1 in-game-day has about 47 in-game-minutes.
Opening my park for only 15 minutes a day makes 1 in-game-minute as long as about 45 real-time-seconds and 1 in-game-day is now only 0.5 in-game-minutes long.

To make it even worse we have ride waiting times and durations in real time, which means I have no idea how many times a month my ride can run. So even though I know how many guests can ride my ride in a given amount of time and how much they have to pay I can't calculate my monthly profit.

Another thing I noticed is that the monthly running costs of rides don't seem to be affected by opening times. That was the point where I completely gave up.

So can anybody explain to me whats going on, or is this system just a complete mess?

I agree there is an issue with time in game. That is the problem with these games We want to sim a day in a park but financially if we have a price per guest it only reflects new people in the park not a daily attendance amount. We charge for rides but only get 10-20 rides in per day and the cost of the ride may be calculated in a month. This is a hard balancing act and admittedly I think the first 2 RCT got it correct. You could charge 20-30 a day and have money coming in in an early park to get rides up. Here you get enough for 2-3 tidies then loos money on upkeep. They really need more time to balance they key management aspect of this game as a week was way too short for that. ATM with the new update I have people saying X line is too long where there are 5 people in it and a 2 minute wait. So not full line = no ful ride= not enough money for profit = dead ride= deard park.

I did some testing and I think now I understand whats going on.

The two things you need to know are:
  • 1 in-game-month = 12 real-life-minutes
  • 1 in-game-month = 1 park-opening-cycle / in-game-day

Unfortunately this means that the opening and closing times seem to be purely cosmetic, because they don't have any effect on how often a ride can run per month.

Park opening time is for lightining and ambiance I suppose to make a nightime park scenery or a day only or a mix.
That's usefull :)
