How early can you take kill missions?

Absolutely! Especially gold, that's 5-10k per unit of gold! Very valuable for someone in a sidey.

Don't read too much into the whole fines and stuff with illegal goods. In my experience if you get scanned and don't reach the inside of a station in time you get a fine of about 50% of your illegal good's worth so it's still profitable and fines don't go on your bounty which means you won't get shot for a fine. Attacking another ship that's not wanted will get you a bounty which means you're free game. If you're fast enough, get in and dock you'll get scanned but it won't complete which means you won't get fined. I've only ever been fined for illegal goods if I take my sweet time hanging around the entrance. Also, if you're friendly or allied with the local system they generally tend not to scan you or take a lot longer to do so.

So, yeah... pick up those cannisters there's not much of a penalty for smuggling illegal goods at the moment.

Be very careful of dropping into signal sources where you see only gold canisters lying around, its normally a trap (3 bigger ships will suddenly come at you guns blazing!)

Just out of curiosity. Is it worth collecting cans when they contain gold? found some near a kill.... gonna leave these one but good to know for the future

If you're bounty hunting near security. Be aware that scooping cargo is illegal and will cause them to start firing on you if they scan you with illegal cargo.

I've been caught with illegal cargo plenty of times now and never been fired at. I've only gotten a fine... In the early days you did get fired at but since 1.2 I've seen nothing of the like just fines for half my cargo worth...

The "kill pirate" ones are easy enough:

1) MAKE SURE that at least one of the target systems has stations in it, or there's no Nav Beacon
2) Hyperspace straight there, ignore any USS, and come out of SuperCruise at the Nav Beacon
2a) When you arrive, set the target system where the reward is to be collected using the route planner option, not the "jump target" option. See 7)
3) So long as you're not in an Anarchy, just kill everything small. Usually you won't get attacked first, so take your time and pick your targets.
4) Pirates will specifically be WANTED (if it's not an Anarchy) and will ask a stupid question, e.g. "carrying anything nice?"
5) Buy a Kill Warrant Scanner and you may pick up extra bounties from other factions.
6) Don't attack pirates in Wings unless you're feeling confident. Remember to target each ship in the Wing so you don't get accused of Friendly Fire too. Setting up a keybind for "target next hostile" is imperative for this.

As for what ship you need, I've done loads of these in an Eagle with middle-of-the-range combat mods and no Shield Boosters/Shield Cells. With a fully kitted Cobra or Vulture, they're a dawdle. See point 3. Don't attack big ships, just focus on WANTED ships that you can take out.

7) When "Mission Accomplished" appears, tap "Deploy Weapons" (U) "Select next system in route" (default is V I think) and "J" into hyperspace. Using 2a) and 7) together is ALWAYS the fastest way out when you might be mass locked, so set it up every time you go into combat.

If things get hairy, or you get damaged, just run away, get some repairs, and come back.

i killed an elite anaconda in my cobra mk III. got 350k bounty for killing him and 150k for completing the mission. just wish i had a video to prove it.

HI,

Any container you pick up in space will be marked STOLEN. So, you can pick them up and make money, but you need a Black Market to sell them. Black Markets aren't really marked, so you have to go by experience.

If you are picking up containers and the police see you do it, you'll become WANTED. Same for if you are scanned by the authorities while carrying the cargo. Normally, it's just a fine you have to pay, but if someone decides to pop you because you're a lawbreaker, things can get dicey quickly.

The best place is to find a nice quiet platform station (not a cube or large). Hopefully, the system is Anarchy and quiet. You should be able to find a Black Market there. Other types of systems have Black Markets, but normally not near conflict areas.

Asteroid fields are marked, they have pictures of rocks in the nav computer. Normally, they aren't exciting. What you might want is a RES or resource collection zone, which occur in planetary rings. RES's are excellent places to prosecute pirates.
