How effective are the plasma fighter variants really

There is plasma variants for condor, taipain and the imperial basking fighter, I did some testing myself with NPC crew but I cannot decern if they are actually doing anything at all In comparison to beam, not to mention listed stats say that they have the lowest DPS of all the fighters. are they useful, or target practice?

They are my favourites. No need for me to think about whether I need the fighter in the early part of a fight against shields or later against hull. The fighter can just keep blatting away at whatever seems to it like a good idea. I like to minimise micro-management in games.

those fighters dps are absolute damage afaik, same as plasma accelerator - so it's bypassing thermal or kinetic resistances (of shields, of hull).

I find them along with fixed MC condor to be quite decent against large slow targets but nearly useless against small fast ones. Fixed beam and fixed pulse seem extremely effect on the small targets and still pretty effect on the large ones. I use all variants but generally get the best results overall with a fixed beam taipan.

They miss a alot. Much more than the fixed multicannons ones.
So i usually use F-63 condor with fixed multicannons if i play a ship heavy on lasers. They are very good on hulls, but they cant scratch shields at all.
Or i use a fixed pulse lasers Taipan/Gu97 with PDT for a more balanced usage.

And i usually have them focusing my target, but not always. Sometimes i just use the SLF to peel of an attacker.

Nope. Contrary to popular belief, the plasma repeater fighter weapons system is thermal, not absolute. Basically, it's a multicannon which does thermal, not kinetic damage.

The only fighter with absolute damage is the Guardian Trident.

The plasma SLF weapon is 100% thermal? Thats garbage then. Its weaker than a laser and misses alot. Is there anything good about it then? Sounds like the worst of both worlds if what you say is true.

I managed to destroy an FGS in my Rogue F Taipan, all by myself, last night (while my Corvette played silly games with an Anaconda).

No complaints, at all, about the DPS. :p

I use guardian plasma fighter. Pretty good if not tanking anything bigger then small ship. Also helps to aim by main ship as enemies try to avoid plasmas.

Plasma Accelerator (main ship weapon system) is 60% absolute, 20% kinetic and 20% thermal.
Not sure about the plasma repeaters used by SLF, but they do seem to do decent damage when they hit hulls - that is against large ships. It would be rather weird if their damage is 100% thermal

This question has been asked before. SLF plasma repeater has 50% thermal and 50% kinetic damage unlike the mother ship. Here are the references:

Sorry, turns out EVERYONE IS WRONG XD

Plasma Repeaters are Kinetic damage.

Ah, cool. Still, that's not Absolute damage, unlike the Trident which is traditional Absolute damage.
