How effectivs is Chaff?

Chaff works against all but fixed mount weapons. But if you are moving fast remember you are leaving your chaff behind you.

This isn't the case. You cannot lock onto a target for the full duration, no matter how much the target moves.

It's pretty obvious this is how it works when chaff is used against you. I believe the duration is 10 seconds.

The reason some players think chaff isn't working is because not every opponent is using gimbled or turreted weapons exclusively. Plus, even when chaff is in place, gimbled and turreted weapons will still hit sometimes.

Chaff is not an iWin invulnerability tool. It's incredibly effective, though. Just not 100% effective all of the time.

I think chaff works a treat. Disrupts gimballed, defense points. Find it invaluable against anaconda pirates (not sure what the poster above is drinking).

Chaff like point defense is just stupidly OP in this game. Almost all weapon types are rendered useless due to the fact that unbalanced defense mechanisms are put in place. And don't give me that crap about player skill and that non-sense. You can easily avoid a Cobra's lower hardpoints since they are fixed to the back of its wings. A Viper's class 2 hard points are on the bottom of the hull as well so its fairly easy to avoid them in a turning fight.

This isn't the 1900's where weapons don't have advanced targeting computers. And also remember larger ships mean you can't see all it's weapons at once. So if someone is orbiting you, you need turreted guns to hit time effectively.

Simple solution. Move Shield Cell Banks to utility hardpoints. This way now you have to choose do you want a better shield or the ability to deter enemy weapons systems.

I'm sorry that I voiced my opinion and my experience. I must clearly be drunk and you find that worthy of ridicule. My experience is clearly faulty and I must bow down to your superior opinion and experience.

Seriously dude, no reason to sling insults around because your experience differs from mine.
