How Elite Dangerous Will Evolve Over Time

Kinda what I feared. At first everyone wants built-in FPS and planet exploration. After enormous resources are poured into development of these things and they are finished, people will try them once, maybe twice and then never look back. It looks cool on the paper but probability of having two well fleshed out games for the price of one is not very high. I would like to see those resources used on more meaningful things regarding the space simulator which Elite is.

I am with you on that but I trust they'll start on Planet Exploration when they have the rest under control

I posted this for people that are new to Elite and are a bit confused

Already under development. The planet landings, getting out of your ship, or walking around in it should be something to expect in the future, and many thought at the least the plant landing would have been included in the release, to be able to compare ED with the original. As the game sits now it's pretty much like any other space game released also without planet landings. That is one major difference between the 2.

I don't really want or need the FPS stuff because I'm an oculus convert. I don't really need or want to get out of the pilot's seat.

Planetary landings on the other hand I crave with the force of a thousand suns. I flew into a low-orbiting outpost this afternoon and the huge planet looming overhead was just too awesome. I can't wait to make planetfall in my trusty ol' cobra.
