How Far Would You Go For an Earth, Water and Ammonia Worlds for First Discoveries?

So out of curiosity, when in a system with an ELW, how many LS would you travel to scan one? 10,000 ls? 25,000 ls, 50,000 ls, etc?

Just curious how far people have gone to scan one in a system.

What about Water Worlds? And Ammonia? Do you have a limit where you can't be bothered?

I believe I've gone 55,000 ls once for an ELW and was thinking that might be over kill, but I really hate passing them up for first discoveries...

Any distance for an ELW. 500K ls? Sure.

For a WW or AW?, depends on my mood or how much I'm in a hurry to continue on. 30Kls?, easy. 100Kls?, maybe. 500K? No. Not unless I really have no place else to be.

I scan Systems if I find em Interesting.
If thats the case I dont care how far it is.

I do however often pass on scanning every small moon and asteroic :)

Also I sometimes only Scan Gas Giants cuz I like them :)
I look forward to be able to get into them :)

If Hutton Orbital were orbiting an ELW, I'd go there just to DSS it. For ELWs, Tagged or Untagged, my range is infinite.

For AWs and WWs, if they're Untagged, still no limit. If they're already Tagged, I'd say 50,000 for a WW and 100,000 for an AW would probably be my limit at the moment.

I've hit the 600+ kly for ELW and Ammonia, but Water Worlds are so common that I stop at about maybe 4kly if there are other things to snag along the way, otherwise for WWs only if they are likely to be CFTs. Helium and Water giants... I'll go pretty far for those too, and for one of the GGGs? I'd go what ever distance needed, even farther than Hutton

There is no limit for me, and actually there would come a point where the further away something is the more compelling it would be for me to tag it.

The furthest I've traveled in supercruise in one go without refueling is a few light years, but not to tag something, as there isn't anything that far out that I'm aware of. If there is, let me know! :)

I wouldn't go out of my way to scan an ELW, WW or anything else like that, first find tag or not, I have gone 600kls or more for a small volcanic moon though, I have ignored ELW's as close as 1k or 2k ls or less. Oh yes, still not elite in exploration, I wonder why :D

Make them interesting other than just fame and money generators then I might start chasing them down.

I don't cherry pick anything in systems, though I do like to see ELW and such from time to time as they're rare enough to generally make a system more interesting to me. I have ignored systems with ELW in them on occasion in the past as well, but not due to their distance, just that I wasn't in the mood for scanning things at the time.

I also scan asteroids, even though last I checked they're worthless and you can't tag them. Kind of hope Frontier changes that sometime.

For a first discovery on an Earth like or Ammonia, i would travel the distance to Hutton Orbital.
For Waterworlds maybe up to 500k ls. But i'm a completitionist. If i've picked a single first discovery in that system, i take the complete system, no matter the distance. Even if it's only a brown dwarf in 300k ls. If i take one, i take 'em all!

I just went 350000ls for an untagged water. Its ok tho i just point the ship and alt tab and read forums or something

I did an 18 month trip.
I'm in the bubble now grinding engineers & factions (rankings)
But in the 1st part of the trip... I'd go any distance. for all of the above.
Toward the end Only ELW's
I would pass WW's and AW's if they were too far.
But I still made 1.54 billion on that trip.

Water Worlds are great. Nicest find I got recently was a terraformable WW orbiting a terraformable ringed HMC. Worth the travel (500kls). The beauty of personal choice.

These days, I generally only scan a system if it has got an ELW in it, and even then I may sometimes just scan out to the ELW and the next planet or two. I don't recall ever deliberately not scanning an ELW because it was too far though. This one I found the other day was over 100,000 LS off, but had a close landable moon, making for my favourite photo opportunity:
