How fast did you make 300K credits when first starting out. And how?

I am about 24 hours in and just hit 300K by cargo runs mostly. I didnt even buy hauler. Just used loaned ship. I want to hear your ideas to maybe learn something for wipe.

I took longer but I did not hit the trade runs I aim more for Bulletin boards. But right now I have a cobra that a mix play style. Miner, Trader, Explorer

the bulletin board superconducter runs pay quite well, around 30k each (after you take away the cost of the superconducters)

This particular cargo run is cursed for me, every time I eventually make it to a station and collect the goods. I crash into the exit slit on take off it's strange. Happened 3 times. I lost over 100k in total. Not to mention the cost of the super conductors.

Hmm i went with Bulletin Missions for around an hour or two until i was able to buy a hauler. Then i went on trading superconductors and bulletin missions with the hauler for around 3 hours then i had about 450k
So it was possible for me in about 4-5h or one night to get enough for a cobra that i refitted for trade/mission runs.

I am currently 26 hours in, and have earned a total of 800k.

Spent and wasted a lot of it as well. But that's because of Beta. Bought and Sold ships. Once I managed to afterburner crash an uninsured and unshielded hauler into an asteroid when I tried my hands on mining. That was probably around 150k down the drain and quite a setback.

So currently I am in a reasonably well fitted Hauler, with 130k cash.

Of the 24 hours probably 4-6 were spent running after upgrades.
3 mining.
3 fighting.
5 exploring.
The rest running missions and trading, but leisurely.

In my opinion the best way to start out as a non-fighter will be (in case you start with a Sidewinder):
- getting rid of shield and adding another Cargo Rack
- running missions
- upgrading to hauler + insurance ASAP
- outfit hauler to either explore or trade
- continue from there until Cobra

By using one's brain and comparing station prices one should be able to find a good route in neighbouring systems that gives 1000 Cr. on the ton each way. So you should easily earn 100k / hour of concentrated playing at the end of the first day, or 300 k / hour in a trading fitted Cobra.

In Beta 1 I did by old fashioned space trucking cargo.

In Beta 2 I did it by 'deliver some information' missions from the bulletin board and a little space trucking.

There was loads of 'deliver some information' missions in Beta 2 that didnt take up any cargo space. Dont see them as often now.

Cherry picked the most lucrative (of the available) missions, and then switched to Hauler when able to (for more haul capacity and thus some better paying missions - haul 8 tons of Gold for 120k, comes to mind as one of the best)...

If you're confident in your piloting abilities you can sell everything possible in the stock sidewinder (that includes weapons and shields) and kit it out with 10T of cargo racks. It should be able to jump over 8 LY fully laden without any additional upgrades. That extra cargo space makes all the difference in kick starting your career.

When you guys say 24 and 26 hours is that hours of straight gameplay?

Yes. From the Stats in the starting screen (Edit: But not in one session). 800k in 26 hours is rather lackluster, i know. I like to take my time, go here and there and try out different things.

After killing my Asp and not being able to pay the insurance I used the Sidewinder to do bulletin board missions, a mix of delivery, courier, and fetch, to get enough to buy a Cobra and went from there. Sidey, Cobra, Type-6 ...
Just got enough money together for another Asp.

Took about a week of intermittent long-period playing to get the Cobra.

probably 20 hours of gameplay 4 hours of idle. but the first 10 hours was just learning how to play the damn game and watching tutorials.

I wasn't bothered about getting the best ship i could in beta 2. Stuck to the eagle and pew'd to my hearts content. Beta 3 came out with the introduction of interdiction and i started using that eagle to make some nice creds, roaming about in SC looking for juicy kills. It wasn't for the creds i was doing this though, it was just so damn fun. The amount of times i had to wake scan and chase them through multiple systems, hunting them down. Felt like a real bounty hunter :)

That is cool I think I have like 3 kills in total. I have spent all my time doing cargo runs saving for the cobra. Its been a grind for sure!

How do u know exactly how much money u earned and how many hrs u played? R U guessing, does ur wife require this type of report from u or does the game track it?

The game has a 'stats' menu that gives you information such as time played, how much you've earned, kills, etc...

You can find this right off the main menu after clicking 'start', it's the option right under 'solo' on that page.

I traded up to a hauler and walked right into Morgor (;) ) and bounty hunted at the nav beacon. The asps were typically worth 11k+, and the type 6's often had some very valuable cargo to fill my holds with. Morgor was polite enough to have a black market in system.

I would say I made 300k in about.... 5 hours doing this. with quite a bit of pew! pew! and cop dodging excitement for the effort.

[ps: plus some badges of honor: "killed Eagle in a Hauler", "Killed anaconda in a Hauler", "killed viper in a Hauler"]
