How Fleet Carriers will behave on the atmospheric planets ?

I assume the same way as capital ships - they are purely space based vessels. Build in orbital shipyards and docked at special facilities in space (if needed).

In the novel Premonition such a space shipyard is described. Sadly there is not such facility visible in the game. There are small - one cap ship - dry-docks in-game.

From what I've read we won't be able to move the FCs in normal space and I assume we won't have that much control over where they get placed in a system since all "movement" is controlled from the GalMap. At best I guess we will be able to select a moon/planet where the FC can orbit (but I wouldn't hold my breath).

Having only the base-game does not prevent the interaction with the planets without atmosphere.

If, by "interaction", you mean dropping out of SC when you bounce off the atmosphere. :p

Personally, I have a sneaky feeling we won't have much control over where our Carriers travel within a system and FDev'll just set it up so they can only go places where they don't get in the way, cause problems or interact with anything.

Given that FDev have said they're available to people who have the base-game, they won't interact with any planets in any way.
Ships are available to those who don't own Horizons - all it takes is the addition of a module to allow them to make planetary landings....

Yes that seems to be the destiny for these mastodons.

:)

So, you're saying you think, if you've got Horizons, it'll be possible to fit a "Planetary Approach Suite" to a Carrier and then take it down to a planet's surface?

Dream on. :p

No - however I'm pointing out that base game content was "tweaked" with the introduction of Horizons to facilitate planetary landings - for those who purchased Horizons only.

Them, they manage to interact with atmospheric planets. :)

Is that from Resurgence? That film made me so angry 😡

The original was fine, a good fun action movie 😊

The ending of the film LIFE, now that was cool. No matter how predictable that movie was, cool re-entry scene too.

One could speculate the possibility to take a carrier down to the surface. Me, I’m not so sure, but it would look awesome if we could...

Awesome like Glide?
And then, what would you do on the surface? Drive around with a SRV trying to fill up the cargo hold of the carrier?

Oh, and just wait until passenger missions are available, you would probably be able to just jump to the tourist beacon on the surface with a carrier - no glide needed. :/
