Strangely I haven't seen a poll trying to gauge how frequently people plan on playing Elite Dangerous. If there was one already then sorry, I did try searching (all forum searches are rubbish).

I'd say at least 2 hours a day of ED for me, time permitting - you can have too much of a good thing and for me any more would be counter-productive as I'd get sick of it.
I'll have to play the game around my job and personal projects, so I can probably only manage a few hours over the weekend. Although I'll definitely be taking some time off when it's released. 
A month or so ago, I'd say 2 or more hours a day!
However, now that I have a new, full-time job (with lots of overtime.), I'd settle for a few hours over a couple of days. There just isn't enough hours in the day!
Launch day is a different story, I see myself playing in every spare second that I can grab!

When reallife allows and being in the mood. I work irregular hours and graveyard shifts.
I did some raiding in other MMO's and playing by an guild agenda was killing at times.

I work 40 hours a week plus the time it takes to get there and back so 46 hours there, I sleep roughly 8 hours a night so another 56 leaving 66 hours gotta eat, go to the toilet, shower ect, pick my daughter up from school call that 21 hours. Shopping, taking kids out 5 hours
40 hours where I technically could be playing in a week...
I'll be lucky to see half of that though lol

Difficult question to answer because it all depends on how good the game is when its finished. If its as good as Kerbal Space Program I will be playing for an average of 3-4 hours a day for the first two months at least, but I see that game as exceptional and it would have to be very good indeed to beat it. Ive played that game for 200 hours to date which is amazing considering how little I usually play games these days.

Each time, I can manage it. Hard to say, but in any event, the weekend and a few hours in the week according to my availability. I would also continue to participate in the forums and that takes a lot of time. For the game I will try not to fall in addiction.
I work part-time, so if I get totally addicted could easily put in a couple of hours a day. Realistically though, I'd say I'll settle down to a couple of hours a couple of days a week.
If I'm honest, there are some days that I really don't have the time. It would mean cutting dangerously into things like sleeping (I can't remember the last time I had 8 hours continuous sleep) So I'll settle for a good couple of hours a couple of times a week. But, if it's as addictive as I hope... I could easily see myself playing a good 12, maybe 15 hours perhaps even 24 hours in a week. Whether I could keep that rate up for more than a month or two is another matter.
