How good is a Python at avoiding interdictions?

Hi.

I'm currently repping up with the Empire and am using my trusty T7 fitted with cargo and cabins. I never have a problem with interdictions, cos I can always beat them (I play Mobius, so npc only).

The problem is, that I'm missing out on a lot of missions cos the ship uses large pads, so I'm thinking of swapping to a Python.

My question is as it says in the title. Will I have a problem winning the interdiction game?

Cheers.

I find the Python very good for avoiding interdictions.
I do a lot of wanted passenger runs in Robigo.

(No weapons, just dirty drives and heat sinks).

Well I would be the first to admit I am not that great a combat player, and I haven't lost an NPC interdiction for probably 12 months in my Python. The Python has the added benefit that if you do lose the odd interdiction you have the additional firepower available than you would in a T7. Personally, from my experience you will enjoy the Python and feel a lot more confidence in it.

Good luck Commander !

It's a piece of junk. Very easy to gank.
You want a true ship for leaving players in the dust after you win their interdiction, get a good T7 build and enjoy the ridiculous supercruise yaw/pitch.

To be fair NPCs are pretty poor at ganking.

Try as I might I just can't quite get that T7 on the outpost medium pad.:S

From my smuggling and piracy experience with the ship:
Dodging NPC interdictions is not really hard however,
just keep your eyes open on the scanner in SC and keep the speed
in the blue zone once you see an NPC going for you, to maximize
your maneuverability.

The python has very weak yaw rates and best turns pitching,
the roll is ok for the size.
Should you loose an interdiction become aware of the hostile's position,
as you will be showing your full silhouette trying to turn and run,
while pitching.
Additionally the lateral and vertical thrust on the python is ample,
and works best at around 15% throttle, to move around and find
a vector to escape the encounter in normal cruise.

The python is a mediocre ship but boats very great cargo capacities.
The shape hurts the ship really bad, making it so thin, that from top or bottom
your modules easily are shred.
From behind core internals aswell are easy to reach for most weapons able to penetrate
your hull.

I suggest you to install a shield gen and make good use of the
Python's shields.

I also play in Mobius mostly, and interdictions are simple. Drop out, kill them all, be on my way.

Unless I'm in a hurry then I'll avoid the interdiction, it being very rare any NPC will pull my Python out of supercritical unless I'm fancying a fight.

So I seriously doubt you'll have any problems.

NPC interdictions are currently heavily imbalanced in favor of the player, it is virtually impossible to lose them, even in ships with the worst supercruise handling (which is not the case of the Python).

Until Frontier decides to have yet another go at 'balancing' interdiction (which they have never managed to do, it's always been too easy or too hard) you can safely ignore interdiction performance when picking a ship for PVE.

When flying my armed trader Python, I never avoid interdictions. TBH I'll actually slow down so the pirate can catch me.

Kill them all and get a little bonus when delivering the mission goods. :D

You'll have no problem beating the NPC interdictions in a Python.

Good hunting, Commander.

In terms of sheer weapons/armor capability, cargo capacity, and maneuverability for it's class, no others are comparable. Not even the mighty Krait MkII, which doesn't enjoy the same massive cargo capability. The Python is quite simply the "end all, be all" of medium ships. There are very good reasons for why it's one of the most popularly owned and operated vessels, similar to the Anaconda for large vessels. Once you get one, you'll have a really difficult time wanting to fly anything else based on its capabilities alone. There are simply no "drawbacks" other than the price, which if you're trading will be negligible anyway.

I've never lost an NPC interdiction in my Python - unless I needed some combat xp or bounties ;)

I had a T7 and sold it exactly because I couldn't do deliveries to outposts with it. A good ship, but too limited imo.

Avoiding? No issues there.

The python does tempt you to taxi / exploration fit 3d shields on it however.. and if you get fired upon by even an above average npc you're going to crossing your fingers they don't take your hull down too. Far more scary that scenario is.

OP: And if you're ever interested, a Corvette makes a excellent armed trader/big brother to the Python. With a FSD booster it even jumps over 30Ly.

Mine can carry 448T of cargo, and is even better at killing interdicting pirates than my Python. :D

Just a thought.
