Newcomer / Intro How I got hooked on exploration - my first expeditions

I'm 80% sure that while this chart includes the increases that came after 1.2 is does not include the Discovered By bonus. Well... 85% sure.

My return journey... and some of the exploits.

The systems around Witchhead Nebula weren't particularly interesting, so I just scanned around a bit and did not stop to take many screenshots. Just this one, which I liked because of the brightly illuminated dust inside the gas giant's ring:

Before returning home, I wanted to cross some things off my explorer's bucket list, so I did a tour of the following stations:

RIGEL

BETELGEUSE

I could not scan the closest planet, because my ship overheated long before I got into scanner range of it.

From there on I made my way towards

PLEIADES NEBULA

The view inside the nebula is very pretty with all the green gas floating around in space:

At the very core of the nebula is the Maia system, which has a very small black hole in it. I got as close as I dared, even hit the "body exclusion zone", but did not get any better look at it than this:

I also found some systems ripe for colonization, among them jewels like

Plejades Sector DL-Y d65

The system has a bright, yellow-white main sequence star:

The planet with the closest orbit is metal rich with 100% metal:

The second planet has high metal content:

The planets 3 to 5 are all terraforming candidates, 3 being a high metal content planet and 4 and 5 being waterworlds with indigenous sealife:

Further out, one finds a couple of more high metal content planets and one lonely ice giant with a nice ring system:

I highly recommend the Pleiades Nebula for a visit. Of course, you won't likely be a first discoverer of anything there, but you will make a good amount of money from your scans.

After I was done surveying the systems inside that nebula, it was time for me to head home to NU, leaving the Pleiades behind:

Back at NU, the community exploration goal was still active, and cashing in my scans, I realized I had made quite a bunch of first discoveries:

So don't be afraid of not making any first discoveries, simply because your exploration goal is an area of stars that has already been visited very often! You will almost inevitably make first discoveries along the way :)
