How I got my cargo stolen

Disclaimer: having been an occasional pirate, I am not attacking anyone here. Remember kids, PVP is not griefing or exploiting!

But the story got me obsessed.

There we go. I'm at war with Eranin, because it's a sector I don't give a damn about, and it's independent: so I have a damn high bounty there as it's the only place I am a pirate in. Take that, commies :p

I love combat missions! I live for dogfighting, and I especially love PVP.
Some players pull some nice tricks. And it's rewarding to kill actual players.

Generally, I dock on Chango, take combat missions for Eranin, rearm all of my democracy, and take it to the reds.

This time, I destroyed a hauler. It dropped cargo but I needed the kill for the mission regardless :) After taking his stolen merchandise, I jump to LP 98, in order to sell that in Freeport.

I am moving towards freeport at a high FTL speed, when suddenly, I am being interdicted. Probably from pretty far away as the closest dude was an Asp pretty much far from me.
I generally escape interdictions well, but this one was too hard. Moved to much, turning too fast.... I get interdicted. It's the Asp.

I'm in a viper. My setup isn't exactly optimal... I improved nothing but the guns and stuff like interdiction scanners. And then man starts shooting at me with a ton of lasers.

I try maneuvers to drop him, but he's somehow pretty good with his asp, and keeps firing at me. He finally drops my hull to 40%, I open the comms, and do the only wise thing I could think about. "Stop shooting, jettisoning" and for the first time in Elite, I drop my cargo to someone, as he lets me warp out safely. That was the only wise thing to do as I had 20K and my ship's insurance costs 15, and I had to recover a 12K mission pay in i Bootis.

I'm usually not in that case... rather the opposite, I have had moments like this, as an aggressor.

Now what I can't keep thinking and laughing about ... is that our dear pirate is now the happy owner of 4 tonnes of fruits and legumes.

So I imagine that guy with his 1 million + ship with guns that cost more than my whole fit selling fruits and legumes on the Freeport black market. I'm pretty sure, somehow, that he lost more money during that operation with the refueling/rearming (and repairing the occasional shots I landed on him) than he earned by selling these, lol.

Keep your pirates healthy, people!

Hey, you have to prevent scurvy somehow, and a lot of those stations sell oranges and lemons with a premium!!! The thieves! :D

Wait, what? You couldnt escape in the Viper? Even stock, if things go badly, just direct all the power to the engines and hit the afterburner, works every time for me.

I did that. He was only slightly slower than me, and his lasers would have downed me waaaay before I left the range . And if I was doing escape maneuvers, he would catch on me.

I however escaped multiple other ships that way, the usual cobras, etc. I cannot down the really upgraded ones yet.
