How I have come to love Rocky and Icy (and Rocky-Icy) planets

They have such a wide-variety of atmosphere types.

Methane, Argon, Nitrogen, None at all...the list seems to go on.

I am Rocky, Icy and Rocky-Icy planet spotting on my exploration missions these days. No longer does my heart sink when I see a long line of "boring" planets.

No, I am now fresh to the quest to discover more variants of these wonderful bodies.

Thanks for this, you have awoken a sleeping giant in me.

Also, WHAT IS YOUR AVATAR?

It's really bugging me not knowing what it is...a box of some kind? With blue seatbelts?

Makes me think you are a box. I've never met a box :D

Sadly, the image is so much more mundane than your suggestion. It is the Sidewinder Blue Sonoran thumbnail from the ED Store website.

I still have my original (although now fully kitted out) Sidewinder decorated with this paint job. It is garaged on Aobrogii. Occasionally I take her out and fly around shooting bad guys.

Happy days

Yeah I see it now. Objects that are pretty geometrical in shape are hard to recognise at a weird angle, especially low res.

At least to me.

Stars, are better. All round

Here's a pair of Rockys closely orbiting each other (4m Km). Enjoy!

Yes.. all the balls of ice, rock and molten rock out there.. they get ignored more than they deserve. While I don't fancy them all that much, I tend to scan them when I'm tagging an unexplored system since it feels like I'm leaving the place in a mess if I don't. :)
Also, I like the molten hot rock balls, especially when they are ringed. :)

Hi,

I have scan most of the rocky planets since find out that some of them are terraforming canditates too. The exploration price average (based on 4 objects) are now 30768 CR
