How I increased my FPS with one in game setting change

I simply turned off "Vertical Sync" in "Graphic / Display Settings", then could use "Frame Rate Limit" to control frame rate.
But my monitor frequency is 60Hz so there is no benefit to me in this case.

works for me. but not gonna mess with refresh rate, screen goes crazy and moves the game interface beyond the screen so cant play because my hud is only half visible, rest is under display

The reason verticle sync exist is so that your graphics card doesn't work any harder than it has to. It only works to supply the FPS that the monitor can handle. It makes your GPU run cooler, not work as hard, and last much, much longer.

Like you said, your monitor is only capable of displaying 60 FPS, so why would you want any more? It does you no good at all. But what you do when you turn VSync off is make your card produce the maximum FPS that it can.

That is a very, very, very bad idea. Never, ever do that. That is how people toast their GPU's in record time.

What you basically did was take the rev limiter off a car that keeps it from blowing the engine and put the gas pedal to the floor and max the engine RPM out for absolutely no reason at all.

Frame rate limit is better to keep your GPU in check.

Vsync is a sledgehammer solution to stop screen tears from frame drops. Variable refresh rate - if you have it - is much better.

Unless you have a monitor with built in technology that does it for you, like G-Sync or FreeSync. So not "never" really, but yeah other than that OK.

Could be few other cases where you want it off still, but the usual user should probably leave it on.

It may give you better FPS when the game dips below 60, but you will also get screen tearing.
(Assuming you set the rate limit to the reasonable value of 60.)
