How I track a CMDR, find him, and waste him?

Just got in a squabble with another CMDR who came to steal my Uranite that I was mining in the Eravate Asteroid Belts.

I lost.

I went right back to the site to get him back, but he vanished very quickly into hyperspace.

Is there any way of tracking other CMDRs down, or am I going to have to bump into him again just by chance.

Also what are the consequences in the game of me fighting with him, and for him blowing me up?

You could try adding him to your friendlist. Then you can see when he is online and where he is.

You also might want to invent in a wake scanner. That way you can scan the high power wakes people leave behind and follow them.

If the CMDR is wanted in the system you fight him in you can attack and kill him with no consequences. If he is not wanted you will get a small bounty on your head if you fire first and then you will get a larger bounty on your head for killing him. The amounts of those bounties seem to vary from system to system.

It is something I find annoying, if you have ever heard of the expression keep your friends close and your enemies even closer you will understand. I have friends on my list who are bounty hunters and or pirates, and it seems elite wishes to give them my location just by logging in.

Would be good to get a FDEV response on this but I never did the first time I raised the issue so I hold no hope this time

Seems that he has to approve the friends request......which I don't suppose he will do cos the only reason I would be adding would be to track him down and kill him.

That was my first duel with another CMDR and I done many things wrong...........was fighting with my cargo bay deployed for one which meant I had poor manoeuvrability, compared to him...also allowed him to fully prepare and line me up for initial burst of lasers, and although he was also HARMLESS, he was probably more HARMFUL than I am. Have one Mining laser, one Pulse laser, and sacrificed shield regenerator for mining refinery.

I imagine that these 'rivalries' and grudges will spring up all over the Elite Dangerous galaxy. Would make things interesting if there were a 'Private Hitman' function in the game, where CMDRs themselves could put up Bounties on other CMDR's heads. Or a 'spy' functionality where information on a CMDR's activities can be bought/sold.

Something like that was in Frontier Elite iirc.
A simple bulletin board entry like bar where you talk and may find places and locations of players. Old but still...

But right now there is almost zero way to find and interdict exact player.

not going to happen and even if you did find him, he'd probably be invisible to you.

Put out a bounty on the perps head.! i'm sure there are a few well equipped bounty hunters out there. would be interesting to see if anyone can hunt him down and blow him to bits and film it for proof.
