How in the name of all that's holy is it possible to play this game?

I have been with the game since early Beta release.
I've played around 6-7 hours from Beta untill full game.

The difference between Beta and full game is that in the Beta it was actually possible to play.
This is the problems I have:

1. My ship is at a location I've never heard of
2. I can't do any missions because the faction doesen't trust me enough apparently
3. I can't disengage supercruise at almost any station in any system
4. I can't travel to Sol, there is no route making it possible despite having bought fuel scoop
5. When I die after travelling for 2 hours towards Sol manually I got back to where I started
6. How do I find my other ship I should have got when beeing beta backer?
7. How do I make money?
8. How do I play story/campaign?

In my eyes, the game is almost ruined. Either that, or they changed so much that I must learn everything again in a more difficult manner.
Please help me with tips on how to actually play this game, I really really want to get how it works.

maybe do what other people do and play around with the starting Sidewinder ship, it is free, so if you blow it up you get another one free, with practice you will learn how to dock etc, there are tutorials in game also, look them up and play them like eveyone else ?

1. My ship is at a location I've never heard of
Use the galaxy map to find it
2. I can't do any missions because the faction doesen't trust me enough apparently
If everyone heates you, delete your save and start over till you get it. Otherwise most missions should be available to you. There are many other ways you can make money in the game and missions are by no means required
3. I can't disengage supercruise at almost any station in any system
Use the three-blues rule - When you approach the station, disengage supercruise when you have all three at blue indicators - alignment, speed and distance. It will warp you to the station. Make sue to check your bindings. Now there's an optional separate binding for hyperspace
4. I can't travel to Sol, there is no route making it possible despite having bought fuel scoop
Make some money, upgrade ship and FSD. Sol is the last thing you wanna worry about right now.
5. When I die after travelling for 2 hours towards Sol manually I got back to where I started
Huhh? Maybe lack of spatial awareness? You may be "closed" in your little area until you upgrade FSD and are able to make bigger jumps
6. How do I find my other ship I should have got when beeing beta backer?
Look at the system map of your starting system. Freagle should be where the blue ship icon is. Check the galaxy map otherwise.
7. How do I make money?
Many ways. Read info on mining, trading, exploring and and bounty hunting.
8. How do I play story/campaign?
No such thing in this game. Sorry, no hand-holding

I'm pretty sure it took me more than 6/7 hours to start feeling comfortable with most of the mechanics.
Don't worry about the location it's the journey to your destination that will teach you things. Pick up some low level courier missions for a minor faction and perhaps stick around in the same few systems for a while, fill any spare space on your ship with something you can sell at the other end!
You can find your freagle by looking at te shipyard and looking at the stored ships tab. If you want you can sell it for credits.

Keep going it's worth it!

Re-opening. But if the insults and disrespectful behaviour are going to continue the repercussions in the form of warnings and infractions will follow. Thank you.

Two wrongs don't make a right.

I would visit youtube and search for trading, combat, mining videos. Much better to SEE others doing the things that seem to have so far escaped you...no insult..just fact as you yourself have indicated.

For instance..in a moderately kitted Sidewinder I managed, using mouse/keyboard controls, to bag a 35k bounty from a wanted Asp npc.

Please help me with tips on how to actually play this game, I really really want to get how it works.

1. Start locations are not the same as in beta, there are several start systems.
.
2. I cleared save at launch and had the same problem, looked again later and the missions had updated. Missions are not player fixed they can be taken by anybody and everybody and, as the starter areas seem crowded, it can appear borked.
.
3. No idea...try approaching at full speed until the you are at about 0.7 then hit 50% speed to station, when the safe disengage message comes up hit disengage. You can disengage at full speed by pressing the SC key twice but it hurts.
.
4. You probably need to upgrade your ships modules before attempted the Sol trip and when you get there your mission problems will probably be worse...it is potentially high pop.
.
5. You restart at the last station you docked at...dock occasionally to save progress.
.
6. To find free Eagle find a shipyard and go to the ship locations tab. It will tell you the name of the system and the distance. Open galaxy map the system will show a blue ship icon, open system view and the station will show a blue ship icon. (your Eagle should be in the system you started in)
.
7. Up to you, missions, trade, piracy, mining or Bounty hunting (if you have the free Eagle it is worth 40k)
.
8. There is no campaign just a story running through the galaxy...it is not centered on you...read Galnet news etc
.
Hope this helps but all the above questions have been asked multiple times and answered repeatedly....a search of the forums would not go a miss I think

Thank you for your response.

The main problem is that the only place I can disengage supercruise is if I lock onto Trevithick station.
If I try to disengage at other stations and such, I only get an error sound from the game, even if it says safe to disengage.

Then, when I try to dock at Trevithick and ask for permission, I get permission granted. But when landing I get a warning about PAD LOITERING and I wind up getting killed after 20 seconds.

Thanks to you to :)

I love the games mechanics, music, visuals and I really want it to work.
Even bought Saitek X52 only because of this game.

1. My ship is at a location I've never heard of

Get familiar with the area, see what systems nearby are good to trade with. If you can find an agriculture/industrial system, it makes trading much easier since you can do some good trade within system (food->industrial, marine supplies/crop harvesters->agricultural). You won't have heard of most systems in the game. Sol is not that amazing.

2. I can't do any missions because the faction doesen't trust me enough apparently

start by doing some trading. Keep checking the board and do any courier mission that shows up. Trading and exploring will get your reputation up in the system. Though with exploring, the systems need to be over 20 LY away

3. I can't disengage supercruise at almost any station in any system

Not sure what the problem is here. Just need to make sure you are within 1Mm and going less than 1000Mm/s and lined up with the target. Then disengage supercruise. Keep practicing

4. I can't travel to Sol, there is no route making it possible despite having bought fuel scoop

There is a limit to how far the route tracking will go - it's something like 20 or 30 LY. Find a system that is on the way and route to that one. You will know if you can route to the system if there is a line connecting the system on your galaxy map. If you are in a sidewinder, you may not be able to get there at all if your jump range is too short

5. When I die after travelling for 2 hours towards Sol manually I got back to where I started

Drop into a station along the way (or don't die!) you will respawn at the last station you docked at. Same thing happened to me last night! You live, you learn. In this case, you die, you learn.

6. How do I find my other ship I should have got when beeing beta backer?

if you go to a shipyard in any system, there will be a tab that lists your stored ships. This will tell you where it is. It is sometimes in the same system you start in - just at a different station. The Galaxy map also has a ship icon on a system where a ship has been stored

7. How do I make money?

Trade, missions, explore, bounty hunt. I would do it in that order if you are starting out.

8. How do I play story/campaign?

There isn't really a campaign but there is a background story. at the moment, it is about the slave trade in Sorbago. The emperor has died etc. You need to be attentive to the Galnet news feed to really get involved in the story aspect.

Thank for the information!

Cant be very much fun to help us newbies that are .

But anyways, only thing I need answered now my reply above.

Are you landing on the indicated pad...if you try to land on any other than that you will get an infraction and most likely killed.

Hitting the "J" key(if you have it mapped to engage/disengage FSD) twice will eject you from supercruise anywhere you want. If you are going faster than a safe exit speed you will sustain damage to your ship.

Might it be you do not know that there are now two buttons for supercruise?
They changed it and perhaps it was not implemented in the Beta you played.
"j" for Jump and "k" for supercruise

Regards

Problem with disengaging sounds like a bug, as long as you are sure you are getting the "Safe to Disengage" message you should be able to disengage and see the station. If you are sure you are doing everything right, maybe ticket it?

The most common issue with Pad Loitering, is trying to land on the wrong pad. You are assigned a Pad # when you are granted docking privileges and each pad has a number you can see when entering the station, you need to land on the right pad. You can use the targeting reticle on left of your heat levels to find out the general direction of the pad once you enter the station.

Oh, the kind just sprouts nerdrage, you on the other hand actually define the problems for people to give guidance upon :D - so, I'd rule the definition '' out.

What comes to the pad loitering... happens if you go too close to wrong pad. Recheck the pad numbers. Ain't just once or twice I've gotten loitering warning due not paying actually attention - chose pad 4 instead of 1 and so forth.

Sure you are at the proper landing pad? If I hover too long above a different landing pad on the way, I get this warning too.

Just because a landing pad is lit does not mean it is yours, even in solo you share the world with npc's who also dock.
It is also very easy to land at the wrong pad especially if two pads next to each other are both lit. Still do it myself and I have been playing since September ^^
As for dropping from cruise, make sure your speed is in the blue on the bars to the left of the UI (not your normal speed indicator)
If you are sure you are not going too fast and still cannot exit then you may need to put a ticket via the launcher link

* Use the Sidewinder
* Run basic 3-4K hauler missions until you can afford to upgrade the Power plant.
* Upgrade powerplant
* Upgrade shields to a C2

then choose to either do the " find black box " 12K-15K missions ( only do these from outposts, as it is an illegal mission, outpost won't scan you on return trip)

or choos to go bounty hunter ( you will need to replace your 4 ton cargo bay with an intradiction module, and also buy a bounty warrant device )

the Sidewinder starter lasers are the best pulses for that ship class, just use those.
Warp to a system, park up at the Nav beacon and scan every incoming ship.
you are looking for wanted Eagles, Sidewinders, Asps. ( anything bigger will require a lot of pilot skill and probably a bigger ship with bigger guns )

watch you you tube videos on how to use intradiction module to pull over wanted criminals
watch YouTube videos on how to operate the warrant scanner.
scan all enemy first before opening fire, or if the enemy turns red. Do not shoot first until after the scan is completed by holding your finger down on the assigned button.

warranty bounty scans can only be done after you have pulled the criminal out of Super flight mode.

Boost your weapons and engines to 3 or 4 bars, keep speed in the blue for maximum manoeuvres , if the enemy gets away or become small, just hit your Tab key and afterburners ino them :)

That's odd because "J" works for both the hyperjump and SC for me. I know it had changed in Gamma but I didn't alter my keybindings from gamma to Live and J works for both.

They have separate bindings OR can both be set to one key...might be worth checking your bindings OP

I don't find this game hard at all. It might be because I have over a year's worth of experience flying with m+kb in War Thunder so I have no trouble maneuvering or docking or anything. This game is in fact a lot easier than War Thunder.

Here's what I suggest as a new player:

- Spend time examining the various systems around your starting system. Make note of what stations are around you and what services they offer.

- Your other ship will be at a station in the system you started in. The system map will show a blue ship icon above the station it's docked at. Just pray it's not Dalton station because it's 110,000Ls away.

-I haven't gained enough faction with anyone to get better missions. It feels like it will take forever and a day to raise my reputation, so I just ignore it.

-Stations are easy to disengage at. Assign a button to set speed to 75%. When you are 7-10 seconds away click the button and you will automatically reduce speed enough to be able to disengage when you're close enough. I don't know if the timer varies according to drive or ship size/mass but for my eagle 7 seconds is fine.

-Sol isn't reachable without uprading FSD. I'm not sure I can get there even with my upgraded FSD, I haven't tried since I don't have a permit yet anyway.

-I'm making money mostly by doing trading missions and some exploring. There's not much else available, but I will be trying to hang out at nav beacons and resource extraction sites soon to try to collect on bounties.

-Missions are very strange in the way they branch. I've done three Hunt missions and none of them have concluded the way I expected. The last one, to Hunt Pirates, failed entirely after I destroyed a pirate who offered a different resolution by killing authority ships instead. Why it would fail because I killed him I have no idea. None of it makes sense. I wouldn't go crazy with storylines until they've had time to review and improve them.

Haven't died yet to know what happens, but if I get sent back to Dalton Station I'll shoot myself. I hate that system.
