How is Colonia looking?

So I've missed a bit, just looked up some stuff to see how ED is doing, and looks like the bubble is about to destroy itself.

Time to run off to Colonia. Of course, that's if it still exists. And even if it does, does it still only have the bear essentials, or is starting to look more like bubble 2.0?

a) yes the bubble is going to burn (hopefully mostly)

b) Colonia is still pretty bare bones. No power play, no factions, well mostly only one, but on the plus side, jail is only 1 jump away from everything...

c) There is now a bridge to Colonia (56 or so megaships and other sundry stations) Hmmm, why does this bridge exist?

Not worth going there any more.
Some player faction decided that they were the rightful rulers of Colonia so screwed the place for everyone.
Best stay and burn in the bubble, it will have more character.

Honestly? It's great for engineering ships and ground gear especially as it gets round some of the more awkward to find stuff that you need for bubble engineers.

Otherwise- nah there's not much happening. As said, the bubble may end up being on fire but at least that means it's being something.

a) Admittedly we've been here before and nothing happened, but I do feel this may be different. It is a superweapon after all.

b) So do what I did when I visited for a short time and use smaller ships only. Got it.

c) I left just after the bridge was completed, but there also used to be player taxis that could take you there, unless something changed.

As long as I can chill doing missions and exploring, it should be fine. Unless they killed those too somehow.

Its still an ok base for explorers but yea if you want to preserve the wild west you have to fight against those that hide in solo or player group and they do so en masse.

Trading is a case of sit on the pad and watch the clock so I'm hoping whatever happens is fairly limited. Knocking out one of the primary gameplay loops would tend to signal game over and a switch to X4 as the main game I play. Insufficient production to cope with a CG or even refueling carriers make Colonia a non starter.

In terms of outfitting/shipyard, full set of independent ships and A-rated gear, full set of ship and foot engineers. Generally easier than the bubble if you don't want a superpower hull since everything is so close together and the engineer unlocks are much shorter than the bubble equivalents.

Not much going on right now politically though the Likedeeler have recently managed to retake their home system and capture three others so that might well escalate as sharing control of Ogmar with Galcop CDC is probably not stable long term.

Nice distribution of the new Odyssey settlements which makes a lot more systems viable for just hanging around in doing missions, and mean that almost all systems now have somewhere to dock a large-pad ship ... though the small size and relatively high player density means you're not going to find top-quality pre-upgraded gear at Pioneer very often (G2s, sure, plenty of those, but anything G3 tends to be sold pretty quickly)

Im at Colonia right now, first time back in a while and i'm trying to get my head around the weird system names. There is even a system called "Repairs Concluded".

I went open play for a few minutes but got destroyed in my weaponless ship by someone who was doing inderdictions on repeat until I just gave up and submitted. I stay solo from now on.

Easiest money is surprisingly passenger missions. So I simply stack the best paying missing, fly only 40 LY to another station and earn about 2.5 mil per mission, all going to the same station.

Exploring and discovering is super easy out here, just fly 50 LY away from Colonia and you'll quickly find systems which have yet to be discovered, so if farming your exploration is your thing, you can do it easy here.

What system were you in? We do have a famous ganker of the savior type but that should be an honor for the small sacrifice of a weapon less ship 🙏😇
