How is CQC doing?

There doesn't seem to be much traffic on the forums for it.
Has the all the flavour been chewed out of it?
[]
I must admit that I have no interest in taking part in CQC, never have, never will and that it still aggravates my sensibilities when I find a CQC rating it on my status panel.
I just hope we don't have any CQC rating for SRV combat or racing forced upon us.:(

Sorry...... You "Mario-Karts-in-space" rating will be squeezed in also. ;-)

it has some nice assets that could expand gameplay in the game I suppose.
other than that I suppose the arena commander addon attracks star citizen fans?
maybe it doesn't?

Not even the prospect of 100k dollars is enough to make me care or sit for 30+ minutes to find a game.

For comparison. Titanfall. A 2 year old game with an average concurrent player count of 1000 at any given time WORLDWIDE and in my region its only about 100~ people. I click play and im in a full game of 6v6 pretty much instantly and if someone leaves it doesnt take long for others to join. By all accounts Titanfall on PC would classify as abandoned.... Which makes me very critical of CQC.

Either CQC is "Super Saiyan 2 Abandoned" or (surprise) FD have really.... really bad matchmaking/instancing/whatever they want to call it. I mean congratulations to whoever wins the CQC tournament even though its basically gonna be a "win by default" since i know for a fact all who are participating are not the top tier cream of crop pilots due to how bad CQC is implemented. Not saying im one of those amazing pilots, im saying that CQC was a surprise mechanic no one really asked for and it wasnt even implemented well so why should people even care when everyone who bought Elite pre-CQC bought it expecting an Elite experience.

There's a sub-forum here: https://forums.frontier.co.uk/forumdisplay.php?f=163

Probably why you arn't seeing much :p

I think what is relevant is that the CQC forum has a total of 169 threads and 2741 posts. I think that is our indicator that the CQC arcade-game is a complete wash-out because FDev will not be forthcoming with information about uptake.

I just wish that the Braben would turn round to his team and say - OK that was crap - get it out of the main game NOW!

Not played it very much myself. Keep meaning to give it another go but I assume it's now as dead as a doornail in CQC now so might struggle to get a game.

They could make it better IMO if they
Merged it with the main game.
Make it a galaxy wide tournament and the winners are treated as celebrities in game.
Up the rewards.

I love CQC. I think it is awesome and a wonderful addition to this game. I'm thrilled Frontier listened to an important part of the community and added this feature. It is a great way to kick back, blow some people up and test your might. I hope they continue to develop it further, add more maps, ships and bonuses for participating in it. I love the type of player it lures into the game as we need more of these PvP oriented folks to liven things up and create a richer gameplay experience.

I like CQC, But every time I sit down to play I am waiting and waiting. It's a bummer. I like the mechanics, maps and ships. I find it a more compelling pvp experience.

Yes that's what it needs. I think CQC was created as an arcade mode for xbone users. We could also have CQC based CG's.

CQC as a game is great. But it needs integration. Imagine CQC tournaments INGAME. You'd fly your ship to the station and register, take part and win a truck load of CR or come out rubbing your bruises... Or both... It would be great if the arena was watchable from outside... You could wager money on the outcomes and everything....

Ah, so much possibility, so little reality...

At the time CQC was being developed their was a lot of negativity on the forums about "pew pew", "Griefing" etc. I think it was a way for FD to give an alternative arena for those who liked combat orientated PvP a place to go and blast until their trigger fingers got tired in a hope of placating the rest of the commanders. It was of course doomed as half the fun is the hunt.

Either that or Microsoft asked them to put it in to make it more attractive to XBone players.

Who knows, I played it once never bothered again.

I still enjoy the odd foray into CQC. If I am between jobs, and don't have time to go to another system, I will boot up CQC and play for 10 to 15 minutes. It is fun.

Some people clearly dislike it.
I however love it!

Fighting npc ships gets boring after a while (several hundred hours) and finding balanced pvp fights in the main game it hard.

It can also cost a lot of credits in rebuys requiring more npc fighting to pay for.

CQC gives me fast paced pvp without any grind. I find humans much more interesting opponents than computers.

Matches are pretty easy to find for death match with team death match a little harder. Forgot capture the flag.

The skill levels of players are very different though. Think match making needs more players to make the skill levels in matches more even.

There is plenty of room to improve CQC with new features and ways to join a match. Hopefully it will be done and attract more players making more even matches.

I have a go at it from time to time, I've even reached the dizzy heights of "Mostly Helpless"!

I get killed more often than not but I like that it is a consequence-free knockabout. If I lose my ship in the main game it spoils my day (ten times so far), if I lose it in CQC - ah well, I'll get the other guy next time! :)

I played it a couple of times, but stopped when I came across an instance where others were blatantly cheating. It was impossible to damage them, and they were shredding my hull, about 3 times as quickly as they should have been, despite having inferior ships. Never bothered to go back. Not saying I'm particularly good at it, but I'm not THAT bad!

I have occasionally played it but all I can really say is that it's just stress to play and not enjoyable. A boring respawn and die fest repeatedly. I was doing really well as well most matches and being MVP many times, so you have to hand it to FD when they can create a game that you are really good at but still hate...
