How is CQC doing?

I like CQC... but

I resist playing to spite my myself because I really think the time should have been spent on the main game.

That's kinda mental I think.

Pretty much nobody plays it.

The people playing Elite for PVP arefor the most part not looking for an arena combat type experience, and never have been. The PVP community has been *very* vocal about it wants from this game. Fdev to date has ignored basically all of their suggestions and pumped money into this waste of bits instead.

I love CQC. I think it is awesome and a wonderful addition to this game. I'm thrilled Frontier listened to an important part of the community and added this feature. It is a great way to kick back, blow some people up and test your might. I hope they continue to develop it further, add more maps, ships and bonuses for participating in it.
I agree wholeheartedly. It's a shame no one plays it. I really enjoyed it in the beta, but unfirtunately soon after my play-time was seriously curtailed and I had to make a choice - CQC or base game. Base game wins. I tried to get a game tonight and couldn't. :/
I love the type of player it lures into the game as we need more of these PvP oriented folks to liven things up and create a richer gameplay experience.
More players = better, richer gameplay opportunities.

I have occasionally played it but all I can really say is that it's just stress to play and not enjoyable. A boring respawn and die fest repeatedly. I was doing really well as well most matches and being MVP many times, so you have to hand it to FD when they can create a game that you are really good at but still hate...
The thing is that the maps and game modes get old quite fast. They could be so much more - think base wars in Tachyon: The Fringe, or, indeed, a 16 player instance with 10 ships and 6 SRVs at the base of a canyon and resources to collect with bases (where the resources are taken) to attack and defend.

Imagine a 32-player instance, and the possibilites for multi-stage conflicts where what you need to achieve per stage is determined by the outcome of the previous stage. Then imagine it as practice for warzones in the base game. Then wipe up the drool.

Haven't played CQC for a while now. Partly because, as someone else stated, it feels too much like it's time I should be spending in the main game. Partly because I was finding it difficult to find matches with enough players (I could only seem to find TDM matches, and even that was difficult when I tried again recently). I was expecting the latter though, to a degree. Now, if there was an NPC mode (even if only as a practice mode), or NPCs filling empty spots, like there should have been from the start.........

Thanks for the feedback guys. Sorry not to have replied quicker but something called 'work' gets in the way.
I know there is a CQC forum and there doesn't seem much traffic on it.
As noted by others, it's only FD that will know the stats. I wonder if they have done a 'return on investment' on CQC?
I'd love to know what the proportions of XBoners and PCers are regularly playing CQC!
I hope FD doesn't take up on my joke about SRV CQC!
With the Horizon release and other updates it may have gone to sleep somewhat.
I just wish I could get rid of the CQC rating on my panel!

Oh, and I forgot to add the inability to create private matches. The ability to create a private match amongst friends would have been the best chance for me get some mates into the game, but without it.....(shrugs)

CQC is not good. He who shoots first and hits, wins. Everytime. That and you cant take hits for anything either... you just die. Almost instantly. Yeah great fun.

I think CQC would be far more healthy if we did not have to log out of main game and enter a separate game for CQC.

Hell, just let us access CQC from the Hangar and a lot more people would play while waiting.

Also, add a global or at least local chat of some kind so we can coordinate play.

Ive mentioned this elsewhere. I'm sure other have as well. There should be CQC community goals in-game. People will come, Ray. People will come......

I played it for a while, but found it quickly to be boring. The main game is already arcady enough.
Wish they would have added proper content instead. Well, we have ships and Horizons now, besides the DBE addition earlier last year.

I wish also they would upgrade the technical level of the game. Make proper use of resources and monitors.

I enjoyed CQC a lot when I played it, it's really well done... but ultimately that's not what I'm looking for with Elite. That's just not the kind of PVP I want. My main hobby is pvp piracy, what I find thrilling is the asymmetric nature of it, that focuses mostly on planning, observation and patience. The actual execution should be, ideally, not that exciting, since every piece is supposed to come into place naturally if you've done the previous steps right and the power imbalance you've created should be enough to avoid having to sweat too much.
CQC is obviously a different beat, focused a lot more on the actual action. But ultimately if I want this kind of PVP I have world of tanks already. Or Freespace 2 which actually lets me create private games.

That's untrue. One of the skills to learn in CQC is situational awareness and map awaresness, and to apply these skills in a way that leads you to always be close to a piece of cover to try and even the odds if someone gets the drop on you.
Obviously the opponent that gets the first shot has the advantage, if it wasn't so something would be quite wrong with the game, but you still have very real chances of turning the tables if you are constantly prepared for it.

'Thrilled'? Really?
Do you work for a marketing department or are you just invigorated by clichès?
