How is the T6 as an explorer?

As far as I can tell you can jump over 30Ly with it. So what's the downsides? Slow I know... but it has pretty good cockpit for exploring.

It's great for exploration if you are on a budget, I have a couple of T6's that I use as shuttles between bigger ships, great Jump range and fun to fly.

Only issue you might have is being interdicted out in the void by NPCs. Even 100's of light years away from 'civilisation', that can still happen. If it's a big opponent, you may have wished you'd upgraded to an Asp!

One of the downsides are the vulnerability of your ship to any pirate when you'll be heading back to civilized space after a long exploration trip to sell back your exploration data in your overheated, overexhausted cargo hauler. I took a 3 days trip with one and got interdicted / missiled to death by a NPC upon re-entering populated systems in my unshielded and damaged explorer

+cockpit
+jump range
+C5x Fuel scoopable

-freighters hull feels like glass
-maneuverability
-price

Overheats very easily, even with decent power management modules. Otherwise it's ok.

Dangerously easy or is it manageable with heat sinks?

Do you get interdicted more frequently by a NPC in a trader than in let say a Viper? And is it harder to avoid the interdiction?

With that amount of money you might as well go for the asp. About 14 million to get a properly configured explorer asp that will have a 35ly jump range.

What? No I get these from http://www.edshipyard.com/. Granted it's not 35 LY jump range. It's 29.3 (even though it says 27)

What is the problem?

I have used my T6 to trade resources till I had enough to buy a T7 and never had issues with heating after upgrading my power plant. I can make multiple jumps without worrying about it, just jumping, turning away from the star (with no need for full stop), hitting my FSD as soon as it is no longer on CD, aligning to my next system, rinse and repeat.
