PvP How is this possible?

Actually closer to 900m/s. For anyone to close a distance of 2700m in 5 seconds, the speed difference needs to be 540m/s between the two. That would leave the Krait at 927m/s (540 + 387), which just isn't possible.

If the numbers are correct, it's a scripter/hacker for sure. With packhounds hitting the target, it is however more likely that a) they have drag experimental, which slows down the Asp in FA ON quite a lot (= zero pips to eng), and b) it took longer than 5 seconds to close the gap / the gap was smaller than 2.7km.

I agree with this.

good video for the OP, with 2 builds included:

I have pushed my krait to 530M/s, not sure what sort of upgrade though so It may go s bit further. And it is possible he has got a full array of lightweight engineer mods to push it further.

Asp had a good boost speed when engineered, Anaconda is a flat no and just about anything can outrun it. was he using Drag munitions by chance? because that will effect your speed greatly!

I just don't play in Open, avoids this issue completely. also not to mention the C&P system is useless, they could kill enough people to get a 1B credit bounty, and you will always get 2M due to the lame cap. so there is no incentive to stop them really...

what is the best defense in this situation?

If you're utterly alone, go somewhere else, or use a setup that this CMDR cannot outfight. This CMDR appears to be outfit for piracy, so chances are a similar class of ship outfitted as an armed trader will be able to fend it off, piloting permitting.

If there are other people in the area the Krait simply needs to be kept occupied while others make deliveries. This can be organized or not, but will be much more effective and less risky in the former case.

Krait is not particularly sensitive to mass. My hybrid/hull focused PvP Krait setup does ~535m/s boost and the fastest any Krait can go is 557m/s boost.

The krait can also chain boost indefinitely with two pips in ENG, assuming a charge enhanced distributor, and doesn't loose much speed between boosts at typical combat mass.
