I'm currently independent.

I'm probably not going to pledge to any of the powers, I might have pledged to an Alliance Exploration based power, but I don't want to pledge to a Megacorp, Sirius Corp strikes me as the Weyland-Yutani of the setting. :D

I'll happily cash in my exploration data in his CG if I make it back in time (unlikely).

I might eventually pledge to one of the Imperial Princesses as I worked for both of them during some community goals.

If and when I pledge for one of the powers, I'll remain loyal so long as unexpected storylines don't make me dislike the leader.

Then join Li Yong-Rui tier 5 200% discovery payout and the great expedition running milions of credits for top explorers and manny more goodies

Im nearing the core, so Iv no interest in pledging or PP....Iv yet to form a wing & that update was ages ago!

I won't join Li Yong-Ruiat the moment for the roleplaying reasons mentioned.

Also the Tier 5 boost for exploration data is totally worthless for long range explorers.

I'm not very loyal. I was curious about Powerplay and pledged to the Power who seemed set to win the preparation phase of the system where I store my ships currently (very practical I just moved them there and didn't want to move them again). After a few weeks/months I'm certainly going to leave for another Power just to see how a different ethos works out. And I'm also planning an exploration trip and I want to do that as an independent pilot. I see pledging to a Power as something you do to further your own causes.

Rare Goods Trader/Smuggler/Merchant/Explorer. None of these really fit with a mega-corp's official standpoint. I have to agree with Raiko.

That being said, if a power develops an advanced FSD, I may have to change my cloak color for a while...

Not yet pledged. I'm intending to when I return and make it into the sphere of influence of my chosen power (one of the Imperials but still haven't settled on which one).

I'm thinking about how the reputation decay will work. If it is something like 50% per week, then I expect for any moderate length exploration you can just resign from your faction before leaving and return and sign up fresh. That should avoid too many problems of dealing with hostile interdictions as a consequence. My current trip is going to be ~5 weeks, even if I had 10,000 that would be only 312 left.

Here's what I never understood:

I thought (from a Lore perspective) that PF pilots were always neutral? Mercenaries? i.e. "You pay me money, I do your job." So how does pledging to a power square with that?

In any case, "Unaligned" is my alignment. If some power wants to pay me an exorbitant fee to join their faction, then I shall. I'm thinking somewhere north of 10 million credits to give them the privilege of publicly stating they have the Premier Porcine Follower.

Yep, exactly. The only part of PP that interests me, that 200% exploration bonus of Li Yong's, is ironically totally unavailable to explorers.


For that reason, I'm out. I'll stay independent instead, I care not for the methods of politics, only the song of stars deep in the silence of the void.

I imagine by the time I complete my expedition, things will have changed drastically and whoever I feel like I support now will have changed.

Politics is bad for business and unnecessarily complicates travel and exploration.

I've no use for it.
