Do you run on an Nvidia GPU? If so, you can enable Shadow Play, which will record everything up to a specified length and save it after you press a pre-determine key/set of keys, or can be activated before hand to start recording and save it all up to the point where you cut it off yourself.

if i do want to record game videos, i am use shadow play from nvidea there are other programs out there that lets you capture videos. (bandicam as example) screenshots in game are done with the F10 key

you can turn the HUD off with alt, shift G by the way. but you always be in your cockpit for now.

shadow play for Nvidia... Rapter for AMD. I use Rapter its wiicked, can set it to record replays at various lengths in full hd @60fps or just record as u wish.

Fraps for recording.

The best ship for screenshots or videos is the sidewinder. People look out of the top of the cockpit which has an unobstructed view. If making videos they likely remap the joystick so that the directions of movement are easier to figure out when looking out of the top of the canopy.

You can also use the 4x multiplier on High-res screenshots (Alt+F10 in Solo/Private Group modes). This gives you a lot more leeway when it comes to cropping the images as you could potentially lose 3/4 of the content and still have what you actually wanted in frame at your actual resolution.

i found fraps to be a bit of a FPS killer and the videos come out as huge .avi's something like 1min = 1 gb ... OBS is better.

also fraps isn't free, OBS is.

i do beg to differ, the clipper does have a better view but is just... slightly.. more costly

as example, this screenshot i left part of the console in to illustrate the kind of view you having from that ship.

It may have a superior view overall but you need to grind the credits and also gain a rank with the Imperial military just to get the Imperial Clipper.

The Sidewinder on the other hand is accessible to everyone.
