How many commanders per account

Im sure this has been addressed and my apologies if it has.I have done a search and can not find anything really answering this.

I would like to know how many commanders I can have on an account? My 10YO son is hanging out just as much as his dad to play ED but i want to know if I can have multiple commanders saved on one account. Im hoping you can have 3 or so Iron Man account and a couple more......

Anyway i hope some one has an answer for me...................

I hope so because I want to change types of game. Like trader or cruise ship and such.

Last I heard it was 3 commanders to 1 account
