This thread is simply something out of curiosity I want to voice out, but it just occurred to me we have a current roster of 114 animals in the game now that the Cretaceous Predator Pack is out!
I am unsure how long we have left until the support for this game ends. Still, there is the possibility of more DLC at least in 2024, especially with interest in seeing some popular dinosaurs, dinosaurs from the Triassic and Jurassic era, animals from the Permian period, remaining Camp Cretaceous species, and potentially new ones from the Sequel Chaos Theory, Cenozoic animals, Microceratus, and even the return of JWE1 hybrids.
I am unsure how many DLCs this game could get in the future, but I have two milestones in check depending on the growth of the roster.
If the game reaches 130+ animals, it technically has reached and maybe exceeds the animal roster in Zoo Tycoon 2. This is especially interesting since I grew up with Zoo Tycoon 2 and knew that it could only run on PCs back then due to how inefficient consoles were for running similar sim management games. To be able to access a roster that has reached the number of animals of Zoo Tycoon 2 with such a great level of detail in model, animation, and behavior would be a testament to how much gaming and technology advanced since 2004.
If Jurassic World Evolution 2 could reach a final roster of 140+ animals, then I will be just as impressed, as that is more than what Jurassic Park III: Park Builder has to offer. That would be just as impressive of a perspective if we could compare a GBA game that uses static images of its 140 animals to a fully-fledged sim management game that has 140+ animals, especially now with a competitive market of powerful portable handheld gaming devices such as the Steam Deck, Asus ROG Ally, and possibly what the successor of the Nintendo Switch would be.
Obviously, it would be quite a stretch to see the final Jurassic World Evolution 2 roster of animals reach 140 or even 130 animals, but they would be amazing milestones to reach if the game gets supported long-term to reach such numbers. I am currently happy with the roster we have now, one that I am still blown away by the number alone, but anything new moving forward is always going to be an exciting addition to the game!
