How many forumites in the hobby?

Dawn of War franchise. Relic. They kinda pioneered the contextual cover system. Peaked in CoH and for some dumb reason they got rid of it in the last WH 40K thing. WH40K stuck. Normal WH is nice and has the Skaven. And Khemri (which are the undead space robots in WH40). But I'm not so super hot on fantasy so WH40 kinda stuck.

However TW WH was a pretty exceptional TW game, imo. It's just more colourful. Ah well, after Vermintide not allowing to play my beloved Skaven I still am looking forward to Darktide which is set at an Imp. Hive city.

I feel the same about Warhammer (the fantasy side): never been attracted to it, and the only redeeming quality it has ever had to me are the Skaven, which I really like.

The only Warhammer related title that i remember playing was Warhammer: Dark Omen.
I really loved it, but that was looooong time ago

Same as me! Then I took a long break, but got back when I realised that I had disposable income! 😭
I think it was a good pasttime till they shafted everyone with the introduction of th Tau and Necrons the overpowered nature of them all made it less enjoyable than it was when the third edition was released.

Right! I had forgotten about this! I used to hate the Necrons and the Tau when they were released!

After a few years (or rather, decades...), when I got back into it I had a new and fresh view on things, though, and came to the conclusion that those additions actually did good to the 40k universe as a whole.
I still have a vestigial (and quite irrational, I admit) hatred for the Tau, but the Necrons... a few years ago I saw the mdoel of the Triarch Stalker at my friend's, and I was hooked.
Now they are my second army! They are just gorgeous.
I am more on the casual/narrative side of things, so balance does not really bother me too much: the rule of cool is my guide! :D

One Page Rules 'Grim Dark Future', I'll say no more 'cept goggle it if you want a streamlined version.

Ps Curently fielding Adeptus Sororitas, Vlka Fenrykia, CSM Khorne Bezerkers mixed with Khorne Daemons and a 'nid Leviathan swarm to be painted.

This grognard had rogue trader and white dwarfs in double digits, remembering when as a kid the original Terminator box set came out in lead. My first conversion was taking that captain's scabbard and making it into a daemonweapon.

I did have some Grey Knights when they released. I had a GK Captain in particular who my one friend called "The Gold God."
