Not to mention E
is gonna be on PS4 sooner or later, Linux, other game selling platforms, Planetary landings and first person shooter mechanics are going to be their own major release's
Continuing Tinman's line of reasoning, I suspect that to build on a franchise (ie, subsequent releases' sales exceed that of the original) the market requires releases to be presented as whole new games, rather than iterative updates to an existing game. So expect Eliteeadly at some point.
If "the announcement" is what I think it is then this will sort itself out anyway rather quickly even if they haven't reached those numbers by then.![]()
No, but The Witcher 3 isn't The Witcher 1.
GTA V isn't GTA 1.
WoW today isn't WoW 1.0.
ED three years from now isn't ED 1.0.
Those projections also talk about "units". I suspect a expansion sale counts as a "unit".

So, where are the debug logs exactly and how can one see his own id without asking somebody else to talk to you and watch debug logs?
ServerAdminRegister::Message: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?><commsGroup><user><id>
So all I need to do to get the numbers is to buy a new copy of the game each day and have a text chat with myself!!![]()
As of 25/6/15, more than 640,000 (but obviously less than 650,000) units sold.

And they can't lie to the stock market.
The logs are located in your Program Files (x86)\Elite Dangerous\Products\{PRODUCT NAME}\Logs folder. I'm not sure if enabling the trace logging is required for it, but I noticed it will spit out your ID every once in a while though I'm not sure what triggers the event (I only had a few of these ServerAdminRegister messages in months-worth of logs). You can search for the following entry using a text editor -- I like Notepad++ because it can search every file in the entire log directory:
Code:ServerAdminRegister::Message: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?><commsGroup><user><id>
The XML value right after the <id> tag is the number you're seeking. Happy hunting! Other than this, I've found no other reference than in friends' chat logs.
Thanks, but i found the weird thing - in half of results the id is 168901, but another half results have it at 394322. I wonder which one is a true one and what's the other one. Any ideas?
Over a week ago I heard at least 700,000 was sold so at least 827,000 seems reasonable.
