I am currently not playing, but am keeping an eye on the forums for update information and hoping that more gets added to the game sooner rather than later.

I play but not how I really wanted too. Bounty hunting is not yet playable so I've resorted to just kinda randomly attacking people until they sort out the legal status issue, and fix bounty hunting and then i'll go back to playing properly. But as I play less and less each week i'll probably have stopped playing by the time that they fix it.

Tell me... why do you bother then?? The extent of your negativity amazes me.

I always thought my output was quite positive - critical for sure, but always about what the game (and Frontier) can be.

I'm emotionally (over 20 years) and financially (through PB and holding shares in FDEV) invested in the game so I'll still be around for a while. It's just disappointing that the game as it is is still beta, a bit of a buggy mess in places and things like the background simulation are still to manual right now (e.g. the latest GalNet news about Lugh - well that means The Wizard Of Frontier behind the curtain are ready to pull the levers and press the buttons to make this happen).

I'm mostly waiting for 1.2, to see the outcome of that - by playing other games this one won't grind me down to the point of uninstalling it, I can come back after each patch and see if it's finally the one to keep me around.

The specific question asked was "How many people actively play Elite: Dangerous?". I'm not, I was just sharing rather than a simple "No" answer.

I play 6 days out of 7 some times just an hour, other times 4-5hours. On a day off it could be all day

i live in Saudi, little else to but work, work and play

Well - I suppose since I do more than just park the Wolf on a landing pad and hang out at outpost bars you'd have to count me as an active player.

You be surprised how many people is actually playing this game. Although you will see rage quit in the forum, that is less than 0.01% of the overall population. There are times when you SC, you hardly see anyone and that is just because you are in the less interested part of space and space is big. ;)

Six month results and the iphone

A fat finger and the inability to edit (yet) resulted in the last post suffering from a premature conclusion. Must be age, sorry about that.

What I was looking to say was that exact figures of units purchased and therefore numbers of players up to 30th Nov last year are set to be published on Tiesday (24th Feb). As Frontier is now a listed company we can expect these figures every six months from now on in their Trading Statement published on the stock exchange website. The real interest will be in the sales following launch.

In their literature Frontier have sales forecasts of 'base' sales of units at 250k for 2015, 'mid' projection of 500k and a 'bull' forecast of 750k. So far in the trading statement they put sales currently between mid and bull but 'tracking above the bull scenario' so on course for above 750k sales for the year. Let's hope they continue the trend.
